LUIS ROBERT TRADED

Glad the people who wanted to make a trade for the sake of making a trade got their wish at least. Just horrible.

Yep. Glad we no longer have to wait for him to start hitting in July only to get injured and miss a chunk of time again

Luis Robert won't be on the next good White Sox team. Acuna and Pauley might be. It's basically that simple. The league just told you what Robert is worth. Holding him into the season would be insane.

Acuña is kind of a player. Don't think we needed another infielder necessarily. Know nothing about the pitcher.

Would've rather just kept Robert tbh but the return is better at this point in time than I might have expected. Watch him go out and produce 5 WAR though. Beats declining his option at least.

So who plays CF?

Acuña

Any chance they take the savings from Robert and spend on another outfielder?

I think they spent that on Murakami.

Horrific trade. Acuna is not really a starting caliber player and the other guy is a 12th rounder from last year. WHO the hell is gonna play center. Pure. Salary. Dump.

We saved Jerry money though and that is what is most important here.

If they sent no money at all, then that explains why the return is so bad. But when your payroll is as low as ours, the money doesn't really matter and you'd rather get something more useful back than a utility player and a 12th round pitcher.

Logically that makes sense. But this is a Reinsdorf owned team.

Pathetic, the rumors of them being willing to send money were bogus

This is such a D list operation.

Um, people also need to remember that Robert has been injured and sucked for the last two seasons.

Maybe they'll extend Kelenic.

Goodbye, sweet prince.

Is Acuna really 5'8 180? That makes Meidroth look big. Why do we trade for players with 0 power potential?

Edited by Buehrle>Wood

Acuna had an OPS+ of 62 last year. In 2400 minor league at bats he has 41 HR and an OPS of .741. Guy’s a R/R tweener who is probably a utility player and a pinch runner. Mets got all the upside here. Frankly, I would rather have a couple of teenaged lottery tickets.

It's wild what free agents are going for, and we still sucked hind tit with Robert, refusing to pick up cash to the end to get an actual return.

"Nothing" seems like a pretty accurate description of the return.

Or, sending money didn't get them much more interest.

Doesn't change the fact that Robert is overpaid.
