I would like to think I willed this into existent. Been saying he would be a good add for a few weeks (even if not repeatedly on here haha)

This reliever will appear in more games than Robert will.

  • If we pinned this at the top of every thread it might save pages and pages of repetitive bickering

Love it.  Should get another 1 lr 2 top 100s in July then

This is a fantastic signing for the bullpen

For the life of me, the money they saved by trading away Robert. We have all minimum wage dudes on this roster.

White Sox front office right now:

Actually very interesting. Value will only go up if he’s successfully closing games for us. Difficult for my fingers to type this…but good move Getz

Hopefully he does well enough to get flipped at the deadline for something nice, otherwise, I would have rather just kept Robert for practically the same price.

Alright another starter and let’s roll. Also an OFer but I have a feeling that’s unlikely.

Interesting. I am usually one of those "bad teams shouldn't pay relievers" sort of guys, but there is an opportunity to build value here, so I am intrigued.

He's half of what Robert was going to be paid.

The money was spent?!?! Really good move.

2 years $20 millions, Robert was 1 year $22 million. Like I said, practically the same.

Thank Christ someone who can close games.

Profile looks decent. Walks too many guys but has pretty electric mix looks like. Hopefully he does solid and is flipped at some point.

I do think they will another starter. Another 1 year deal on a low cost veteran to help eat innings.

Same for OF. I don't see them adding anything other than a spare part type who can take at bats

I agree, but if he gets the closer role and has a really strong first half you're looking at a pretty nice asset to move who will have an additional year of control at only $10 million

Huh

This signing did surprise me a bit. His age and a 2 year deal...I would think, if he performs as a closer, he would be moved by the deadline.

Excellent addition.

Huge flip potential with that second year.

If he isn't flipped, I would rather just kept Robert so there was at least something promising in our OF for this season. I would imagine he will be traded though.

The overall guaranteed amount is the same I think is what he means even if the AAV isn’t.

I'm probably the biggest pie in the sky guy here, and Robert wasn't promising. At this point, I'm more excited to see what Acuña and Pereira can do.

Love the idea of getting a closer that they can flip. Still think Taylor should be moved if teams have a huge price on him.
