I do have hope. I hope we don't lose 100 games 4 years in a row. Doesn't that make you miserable?

No frankly it doesnt. I like them to win too. Im the same way in that regard but u cant hide misery , it affects your mood and I need not be miserable  with more important matters.

I dont think they will lose 4 in a row with 100 losses.  Why would you even think that way ?

I would like to think I willed this into existent. Been saying he would be a good add for a few weeks (even if not repeatedly on here haha)

This reliever will appear in more games than Robert will.

  • If we pinned this at the top of every thread it might save pages and pages of repetitive bickering

then you also have the atmosphere of players signing in the hopes of being traded.  I doubt their goal is to remain thru the contract

I guess my concern would be the guys coming in before the closer innings 6-8

I hope he did sign here with the hopes of being traded to a contender, that's his purpose here. For where the White Sox are now, this is what they should be doing.

If they rebuild this thing and are contending for playoffs every year, then yeah, I would be pretty disappointed if they were signing flip candidates. For todays roster, its what is for the best for the future.

It is so outrageous to have a negative opinion on a franchise that is on it's third straight 100 loss season, has never signed anyone to a nine figure contract, and has one of the lowest rates of being in the playoffs of any original franchise.

No one is forcing you to be unhappy except your own standards you just said that. So either you enjoy unhappiness , your standards are too high or you need another team that meets your standards.

See I care about your happiness.

I hope they don't lose 100+ games again  this year but the starting pitching is poor, the injury history since 2018 has been brutal, they are going to be playing a lot of relatively unproven kids and JR is still running the show.

It certainly possible they continue to bottom out again.

Yes, I have standards.  Congratulations on finally figuring it out.  Now ask yourself why after you made this list talking about continuing to rage post reply to all of my posts, you spend so much time obsessing over me.

Is it either you enjoy unhappiness , your standards are too high or you need another team that meets your standards.

Remember,  no one is forcing you to be unhappy.

Steamer projections for three possible CF options:

  • Acuna:  385 PA | 88 wRC+ | 1.1 fWAR | $0.9M
  • Bader:  436 PA | 96 wRC+ | 1.3 fWAR | $10M
  • Robert: 477 PA | 95 wRC+ | 1.6 fWAR | $20M

Offensive projections aren’t too different and fWAR figures above assume Acuna is playing 2B.  That being said, if Acuna can provide plus defense in CF, he’s probably around the same fWAR as the other two guys and at a fraction of the cost.  I still think Robert will be over 100 wRC+ next year (and possibly by quite a bit), but there is no denying the health concerns.

If Acuna provides plus D in CF then yeah wRC+ of 88 is ok. You can bat him 9th.

I hope they scouted him thoroughly when he was playing CF in the minors.

I would be stunned if Acuna could even put up an 88 wRC+. Hope I’m wrong.

Stunned? His career mark is 83. I just think some focus and reps could get him into the 80s.

He had a 65 wRC+ last year in 193 plate apperances. I suppose he could improve with more reps, but that’s a pretty big jump.

He's still only 23, considering his pedigree alone, zero reason to write the kid off.

Thanks. No loss there if he's taken. He'll probably clear honestly.

Also has no options remaining and it's pretty clear there is no room for him.

Dudes like Derek Hill on the 40 man, but we DFA Ramos? Eh.

No options and < 1% chance he makes the Opening Day roster.  Until you add another OF, you should probably keep Hill.

Ramos has been hurt/not good the last two years and now the IF is very crowded.

Yeah I would be shocked if he is actually claimed.

And they very obviously didn't like his even when he was healthy.  They ran literal trash out there to block him.

Seeing Ramos DFAed reminded me - he was third in top Sox prospects by MLB Pipeline in 2023. 4 was Schultz, 5 was Burke. This system was in BAD shape back then.

I thought for sure they werent going to hit tbe 100 loss mark again in 2025.

Then they had that 7 or 8 game losing streak at the end of the year. It's still a rebuild and you just got the 1:1 pick and you got a pitcher from the Brewers who was nothing to the Sox one day and their best SP to open the season.

Also had a lot of their top prospects graduate to MLB and they did very well. And still 6 top 100 guys left and some promising SP pitchers among them.

They are taking advantage of being in a rebuild.

ESPN just had an article comparing the Sox to the 2022 Orioles who went from 54 to 84 wins.

The odd contant focus or embarassment over the past few years of rebuilding W's and L's really wasnt happening very much with the last rebuild and then we didnt have a new owner on the horizon or an advertising contract with a heavy hitter like CME and  their CEO Chicagoan Terry Duffy. Maybe he's aligned with the Ishbia's. Certainly could be a thing for a reporter to investigate. CME Stadium perhaps ?

So good things happening behind the scenes and on the field. I'm just looking for a more balanced viewpoint .

Did you see the Getz interview on the ReKap Podcast ? I thought it went well. I know it focused on the good things. Of course lots of good things being talked about plenty in podcasts. Like anything else that takes time to build you never quite know if its sustainable and if it will keep progressing and be in a good  place when the team is sold.

I thought Getz would make another trade or free agent  signing before Soxfest. It doesn't look like that is going to happen. I also thought the  promotional schedule would be released by now.

He's 23 . Guys have jumps all the time at that age when they getting playing time and make adjustments. Hell be surrounded by a lot of guys his age , with coaches and a manager all in a player nuturing environment. I think that had a lot to do with how well the rookies , Vargas and Sosa did last year. Won't work for everyone but when you consider how many improved or just had promising results you could probably name 10 guys who are back this year for full seasons to improve even more.
