Probably like a 70s porn star with that mustache.

  • This doesn’t make any sense. One reason why St. Louis is where they are is their lack of pitching development. Brian Bannister fixed Fedde the first time. He’s probably the guy most likely to do it ag

I'm guessing they'll go with: Smith, Martin, Kay, Burke and Fedde with Cannon, McDougal, Davitt, Sandlin and Schultz in AAA

Smith in AA?

The SP is going to be pretty damn bad. Maybe we can win some games 7-5 on the way to 66 wins.

I’m optimist about Smith & Burke.  Think Thorpe, Sandlin, & McDougal push for spots pretty quickly.  The group could get significantly better by mid season, at least on a talent basis.  Obviously hard to say what rookie pitchers will give you right out of the gate.

Most likely yes.

Hopefully he can be what he was the first time. Probably won't, but even if he does, his awfulness last year will keep his flip price really low.

I am very interested to see what Thorpe looks like this season.

Watching him last year, his stuff just seemed so flat.  Will be surprised if he’s on the roster come July.

Fedde will be out of baseball before the year ends.

Wouldn't shock me if it happened before the season starts.

This thread got me thinking about Houser....I had no idea about that contract he signed with the Giants. 2 year $22 million?

Meh...Certainly not exciting, but if it's cheap (it will be), I don't mind it at all. Guy was quite good for the Sox. May as well try again.

Well, that’s a guy.  It’s not Martin Perez, who is also a guy, but rather a different guy

Did Giolito Sign somewhere? What's his price

No and apparently more than the Sox are willing to spend.

Don't particularly care for this, but can't say I'm surprised. The other starters available out there are clearly out of the Sox price range. I'd be surprised if he makes to the halfway point of the season.

Nick Martinez just went for $13M. Probably at least that.

Catching lighting in a bottle twice? Nah.

Tyler Mahle, also 31 and with similar fWAR to Giolito's 2.0 signed with the Giants for 1/$10M. Gio might be eying Cease money, seeing as he was coming back from injury last year.

"See. Just a reminder that I do work with the White Sox when the price is right"

Attempting 3 three times if you count the very similar signing of Anthony Kay (pitcher who sucked here and then went oversea and had success there only to come back)
