Honestly it might be easier to keep him then. They can use some IL time, and also use a rehab assignment to kill part of the season if they like him. Even if he was playing RF instead of LF/DH...he would need to be playing nearly every day to be fully prepared. It's a lot like sticking Pollock into RF in similar circumstances in 2022.
