This is great news - If he can get back to who he was pre injury I think it will make a big difference for the rebuild.

In his first 7 pro games of 2024, Thorpe threw 6 of 7 games with game scores of 57, 69, 63, 66, 58, 69. He then fell off the table for two horrible starts. He was subsequently put on the IL. If that guy comes back, he will be a force.

Otoh, Walker Buehler went from a Top 5 pitcher in mlb to being on the verge of his last chance to hang on.

This was after Walker had his second reconstruction. Thorpe is on his first and hopefully last.

Hogwash

Seems we already had this debate...

Not sure about starting Hagen in AAA...4-6 weeks of BIRM starts to continue stacking confidence would have been another approach.

Who did Murphy make it over?

Eisert or Gilbert?  Both?

Paez is going to be rostered now?

Vasil is likely out for a while if not all year - at least that's where it seems headed.

It's where Carlson was always going to go.

Some talk that Sox wanted to hold him in Arizona to start the year until they felt like his swing was in a good spot. So by that metric it's a nice development
