Teel injured in WBC - Grade 2 hamstring strain, out 4-6 weeks

It's easy to say this is why MLB players shouldn't be playing in the WBC, but as others have mentioned this could have happened in a spring training game.  Hopefully he'll be back sooner rather than later.  But, no need to rush him and risk a reinjury.  The Sox have two others good options at catcher.

Besides the actual injury, the other place this is going to hurt is the roster fringe.  If the plan was to go with 2 catchers and move Lee, now they can't do that, and they have to keep all three catchers on the 40.  Not good for guys like the Rule 5's and the extra OFs hoping to catch on.

I don’t think Lee had much value anyway. If anything, Teel going on the IL probably opens up another spot for a position player like Mead or Pereira.

Alberto gives up 2 on a walk , 2 hits, 3 steals and a WP in .2 IP with 2K. Command way off . He did hit 100 once . Hes responsible for the runner on base .Palisch in infield hit and Adell scores from 2nd.

Meidroth probably better off not making that throw to 1st on a ball up the middle. It allowed Adell to take 2 bases with 2 outs. 4-4 middle 6.

Wrong thread still.

That's the point.  If you had let him go early, you would have gotten nothing for him, and you wouldn't have a 2nd catcher

You can get injured stepping out of the shower. The point is, these guys are going 100% hard in March. Spring training is relaxed and they ramp up the effort.

But if a White Sox player gets injured stepping out of the shower, it's because Jerry Reinsdorf directed Chris Getz to personally NOT teach players the fundamentals of how to step out of the shower.

Obviously the injury sucks because Teel won’t be ready for opening day.  But couldn’t the blessing in disguise be that Lee makes the roster to start the season instead of being dumped for nothing and is then possibly slipped through waivers and outrighted to Charlotte once Teel is ready?
