Benintendi will be rostered until the deadline next year, or until/unless Braden really forces the issue...

  • Your 2026 Chicago White Sox.....We no longer suck!!! And for now, that is enough to stay in the Central race way deeper into the season than I thought. They have been way more watchable since Colson

Have been trying not to squash the optimism as I've been the positive one in in my real life circles, but this team still has no pitching outside of Schultz. Still not a believer in Burke/Martin/Fedde

  • I'll start to believe at the trade deadline if they are within striking distance and JR allows Getz to get upgraded talent and not trade players away for prospects and 'magic beans...'

For whatever reason they seem to like having him on the team, and they just donโ€™t really cut bait on these large contracts not in the final year.

I'll take it ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Just pointing out with peeps saying starting rotation is weak hasn't checked the stats. Not saying this group can continue it but they are sporting a 3.70 era which is 7th best in mlb. Sox should have some reinforcement with starters coming too. The bullpen is a whole another issue. Thats in the bottom group which maybe some starters could get pushed to pen trying to squeeze in other others coming up.

Memorial Day, July 4th and trading deadline are three key points in the season imo. If they are .500 or above on any of those dates start believing -- but also look at the run differential. We're -18 and on pace for -80 and a 76 win season. There's really no indication they are "good" but every indication they no longer suck, which is good enough for now.

I've been saying I predicted 77 wins but when I rechecked the prediction thread. I said 76. I also threw in another prediction that aged extremely well.

I said this team is way better opening day even with the injuries to Teel, Vasil and Baldwin, than last year and the 7-23 start and I expected the Sox to come close to doubling that win total by the end of April. They did double it.

And there's still minor lesgue talent and players who will be returning from injuries.

If they dont lose Colson or Mune for any long stretches then the next biggest key is consistency in all facets of the game and translating that to wins against division opponents. That part of the schedule hasnt even started yet execept for 4 games we split in KC , which was a good sign considering how much they sucked vs KC last year.

Imagine how good the rotation would be if we hadn't spent the offseason dumpster diving (again) and actually added a legit SP rather than this blue light special garbage that we do every fucking year.

who? Cease? Giolito?

Imai has been a disaster

Michael King wanted to stay in SD

Gallenโ€ฆsame thing, home is where the heart is

Ranger Suarez is the easy answer hereโ€ฆbut would have required a 10-15% overpay

Run Differential is not a linear projection. Just a couple of weeks ago they led the league as having the worst RD at around -45.

It is possible they continue playing good ball and we see them sustain a positive differential.

That would require them to play above .500 on the year. Fingers crossed.

At least weโ€™re seeing improvement and itโ€™s a coin flip that we have an 81 win ( give or take ) team on our hands.

Either way, itโ€™s still far too soon to say what weโ€™re watching but I sure as f*** know itโ€™s been more fun than anything else we have seen in the past few years.

If they can get 5 games above .500 and stay there through the end of May, I will stop calling for Getz's head and enter the "purchase Getz a room temp beer or cold Coke" club.

Youโ€™re going to be accused of moving the goalposts when even Feganโ€™s optimistic prediction was 79-83.

Jerry's boys are doing much better than some of us (like me) anticipated. Now I'm happy to admit I was wrong as I jump back on the bandwagon.

Agree but the nice thing is team ERA is now down to 4.22 which is the average in the American League, who would have thought that it would be this low after the team ERA was 18.50 after the first week of the season.

Actually I find it more appalling that we really donโ€™t have a Major League outfield, if we had some power in the outfield corners this team IMHO would definitely have a chance at winning the Division or at least a Wild Card spot.

They probably like his experience helping out all the young guys on the team but to say heโ€™s been a major disappointment is putting it mildly. When we signed him I thought we were getting a guy who would give us 22 homers, 80 RBIs and an .800 OPS.

Im so worried about calling the top โ€ฆ

but unbelievable job by our pitching staff, so much so that I want to give credit to Bove.

But everytime I do that they immediately tank so I am not giving credit to Bove.

Still not a believer in Burke/Martin/Fedde. Additionally, they're 24th in FIP and pitching WAR and 21st in wRC+. That's a 70 win team.

They're fun, but they're not good. I think their position players, with Ant full-time and Teel back can get more in the top 12-14 range though! Think the pitching is actually worse than they've shown so far so could see them dropping there.

Burke looked like a #1 yesterday against SD. Not saying he is a #1, but he pitched like one. That breaking ball early was nails, and fastball had good life. He commanded the zone well too.

If they have a really good month of May (which so far so good), Iโ€™ll start believing that the division or last wildcard berth is attainable.

Yesterday was the best I've seen him since the 2nd half of his first year. He looked good, no doubt about it.

I have been on record that Burke has the stuff to be really good

I'm just happy when we go down 3 runs early the game isn't over.

I am unhappy because when we go up 3 chances are we will win and the last 2 years I made a killing live betting the other team to win at + money. 2 years ago I won $2500 betting against the sox.

Not too shabby for a guy you once said " sucked."

Sox enter today 22nd in position player fWAR and 18th in pitching fWAR. We have reached mediocre boys!

Which is close to where the farm system is ranked ten weeks before 1-1 and 2-41.

But Bonemer Braden and those picks push it at least back into the 8-12 range.

Even considering current uncertainty around McDougal Hagen Oppor.

I am thoroughly enjoying this season. .500 still seems like a stretch cause I think our starting pitchers are mostly a mirage except Burke, but if Im wrong we could definitely challenge for a playoff spot. The Central is nothing special
