What do the Sox do with this guy? Why waste a roster spot on him when he is done rehabbing.

They currently have 5 lefties in the pen so I guess he can at least replace the worst option...for now.

They have Dalton Rushing likely starting behind the plate

I just meant for this game, since Rushing just started 3 straight while they were evaluating Smith's injury.

While I’m usually happy to represent the Sox as a local Los Angeles prodigal son, today I’ll be simply hoping that I’m out of the hospital and back home before game time to figure out a VPN / way to watch the game.

Next week on Wednesday I’ve got a medical procedure to either confirm or rule out cancer.

Going in today for preparation stuff.

Hey, thanks for sharing and I wish you luck on your prognosis. It's truly wondrous where medicine has gone in the last 40-50 years. When I was diagnosed, the best advice I got was to take it seriously and focus on beating it. I hope it's nothing and you feel embarrassed in a week for even worrying. I wish you the best.

No Ohtani

Looks like ohtani out tonight

Ok no Ohtani just give us 5 innings 3 runs Kay.

No reason not to believe him and he DHs anyway. Oh well. They aren't playing that great lately and we've been strong at home, I think 2 of 3 is doable but I'd be fine avoiding a sweep.

FWIW Roberts said Smith would be good to go on the 7th, then he didn't play for 3-4 more days, then he went on the IL, so Dodgers fans don't seem to trust his injury prognostications.

They have every reason to be especially cautious with Shohei, though I'm sure a lot of fans would love to see him and Mune both fully healthy for this series.

I just read the Dodgers SB nation blog. They can get fucked. bunch of arrogant assholes. I hope we sweep their ass and it sends them into a tailspin and they miss the playoffs.

Mune's parents are in town too, such a shame he's not playing. A HR off Sasaki or Yamamoto would have done crazy numbers on social media lol

Two things

I can't believe Alex Call is leading off for the Dodgers

I can't believe Andrew Benintendi is hitting 3rd still

Also Mune for Beni and Teel for Romo is the ideal 9 in the lineup against RHP

Will Smith is out for LA, old friend Chuckie Robinson likely starting behind the plate.

Vesia probably not available for their pen after pitching two straight. One of Scott/Klein might be out too, both have gone 2 of last 3.

Ohtani will reportedly see how he feels after flying in and warming up.

I hope he's okay but also sits out a couple games as a precaution.

This deserves a call-out to an all-time great post by @Timmy U . The good old days of Pedro loving trash players.

Leading off with Alex Call is certainly a choice. And at what point does the Dodger FO have that serious talk about DFAing the 68 wRC+ Mookie Betts? And Roki is winning the fWAR race against Tony Kay, 0.6 to 0.1. May the better pitcher win.

What a whiny b****. Boo-hoo, my food was cold because I spent too much time complaining about the view outside the park from the inside of the park, INSTEAD OF EATING MY HOT FOOD!!!

Yeah, slump starting sweep would be good for them.

You scared me for a minute....he's in Charlotte. I've always felt that rehab assignments for relievers should be 3 weeks minimum.

What are Roki and Kay if you remove their Aprils?

Sasaki was on the verge of being sent out if not for the Snell and Glasnow (shock) injuries.

Muncy and Pages have largely carried the team, compared to the likes of Tucker and Betts.

Age just might be catching up to Mookie, but the same should be true for Max and Freddie.

Well, very different types of players.

Same or worse than Yankees or Red Sox fans now....reminds me of when Braves fans were tired of winning their division but getting wiped out in the post season every year. Hardly sold out any of their playoff games in the two older stadiums.

Chavez Ravine is also objectively a dump. It's only that Dodgers aura that fills it. If they go back to what they were prior to Ohtani they'll have 13K there on a random weekday night soon enough. That was a really awful article and it just kept going. To be fair, the SB Nation blogs have largely cease to be relevant outside a few as all the good editors moved elsewhere.

Thanks brother - I likely won’t know much until July but at least the ball is rolling. The medical system here in the U.S. is a joke.
