I guess it depends how highly you think of Roch, but to get 2.5 seasons of Webb AND Flora for just him feels like a good deal to me.

You also wouldn’t have to take Flora at #4…you could theoretically take Lombard or someone else. Obviously none of this possible or realistic.

There has to be some SP with 2+ years left on their contract or a guy we would be good extending if he came over.

Also need to find a rental RP (RHP) for a prospect that is between 10-20 on our rankings

The Sox trade William Bergolia and a player to be named later to Atlanta for Reynaldo Lopez.

Lopez goes to the pen, and Grant Taylor can be used more for closing.

I think it's going to be mostly rentals with the fact that they won't probably trade anyone from the ML roster or any of the top prospects. I'm betting Jacob Gonzalez goes in one of these trades.

There's a reason why Getz said Acuna was a switch hitter. He was dizzy from doing cartwheels after he got a taker (sucker ) to take the money and give up 2 players. The players were secondary as long as they got the money. Getting an athletic , fast SS with bloodlines wasn't a terrible idea. There's enough there to work with but not having options kind of sucked. He really should be in the minors undergoing treatment from Dr. Fuller.

I'd be surprised. I'd consider Gonzalez a top guy now and you don't throw away that on a rental.

I understand selling high but not on a breakout season on a guy who just turned 24. He fits the Sox profile of LH power and a discerning eye.

If Mune leaves Gonzalez becomes even more important.

He literally has nowhere to play right now after Mune comes back. Beni is going nowhere anytime soon. Him leaving is the only way he gets steady playing time.

I think he’s far more likely to go than anyone but probably not for a rental. Maybe he’ll be in talks for a guy like Detmers who has a couple seasons of control?

I think anyone with control is going to require a more substantial prospect than Jacob. Unless we're willing to take on a larger portion of a players salary remaining.

I really hope Gonzalez doesn’t go. Still early obviously, but he passes as the eye test even if the results aren’t quite there yet. And Keith Law believes with the changes he’s made he could be a star. IMO, I’d rather hold onto him for now and let him prove himself in the majors. His value will grow exponentially if he does.

As someone that kept cheering on Gonzo (mostly out of spite for just haters), Law saying he has star potential has made my eyebrows perk way the f*** up.

Yeah as of how things stand now, he might be the long-term answer at 1B

Yeah good deal for Sox. Head scratcher for the Giants. Heck, they should be able to get a couple top prospects for Webb. Not have to also include a pitching prospect just to get one.

You do that trade all day, but try floating Emerson or Lackey down to #4 by going overslot. Fo Sho

I feel like any team willing to take on cash is going to be sitting in a great buyers market. You had players like Correa go last year for a guy released in a few months.

The only extensive package that scares me was from the padres, who traded for a guy with 4 years of control.

eugenio suarez went for the 9th, 16th, 17th prospects (using pipeline so not great, but hey).

I just think we are wildly overestimating the prospect costs from the past three years. We were so excited to have pop up guy Adrian Houser, what will we get? Oh trash, we got a guy who isn't in our org 4 months later and some top 100 guys (from within an org).
We love baseball now and we may not have much next year. Go use the extra money from the dodgers fans this weekend and get something cute and nice.

A lot of Logan Webb chatter. No way he’s traded unless it’s a tear down, and theat would only happen in the offseason.

Right now he does have somewhere to play since Mune isn't back for maybe 2-4 weeks. Just keep giving him AB's and worry about sending him back down when Mune does come back. Things will be changing in 2-4 weeks if both Teel and Mune are back. Nothing wrong with him continuing to flourish in AAA. He still needs reps with the changes he made and his time in the bigs might guide him and Fuller continue to adapt.

He wasn't called up the way the Sox normally like to do it. He fit the bill as far as being hot ,which they like ,but they prefer a more natural way besides an injury like an actual position to play full time.

The Giants and Red Sox already messed up with Kyle Harrison.

Robbie Ray should be their first/immediate priority to dump, by far.

Then Houser or Mahle (il).

Webb is their ace...they don't need to just give him away unless they're doing a complete rebuild. Doubt Posey will admit failure so quickly and easily on both the team and manager.

They will also try to find takers for CF Jung Ho Lee.

Luckily the scouts and others found the red flags in Murakami too much to overcome too.

No rush on Gonzalez to jump to conclusions.

I thought the same about Ray as a salary dump guy but man, he’s been wild and walking a lot of guys lately it seems.
