They're not going to trade away their top young assets.They're going to be very selective about getting a good deal. I wouldn't expect too much. If Sonny Gray is mostly a cash deal maybe him. Maybe can add an unrated RP or 2 also but maybe the help comes from within since we have a lot of young arms mending. Hell the team has ridden the youth this far might as well just let it ride.

2 hours ago2 hr As much as Chapman would solve a lot of problems, I kind of think the Sox are going to fast track McDougal into a relief role. I think he could be dominant in that role pretty quickly and allows you to deploy prospect capital to a SP.

He just got back to live action recently.I think the Sox, like it or not, have to give it time to see if this medical issue is behind him or not. Under no circumstances would I be rushing him.

Don’t think Sonny Gray with a NTC and hefty contract will be the exception.

When I say “fast track” I mean punting on his development as a SP, including building up arm strength, to instead help the major league bullpen whenever he is fully healthy and the rest is warm off.

I know people will say giving up a massive haul for a reliever is a risk, but he’s automatic and has 3.5 years of control. He’s a massive difference maker.
