Tomorrow better be all-time or else this deadline will be a massive bust. So boring.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Like us. At least he's not pitching like a clown and shouldn't cost that much.
I'm moving this idea here. For Cease, we received a back end top 100 low-ceiling pitcher, plus 2 A ball players and a middle reliever.
H. Smith, 2 A Ball pitchers and a middle reliever for Detmers.
That's about what we received for Cease. H. Smith has twice the ceiling of Thorpe and Cease is better than Detmers, but 2 extra months of Detmers and it is July.
I'd rather do that for Urena, but I guess that's unrealistic.

Not even close to realistic. A pitching heavy deal would have to include to Hagen & McDougal to have any shot. And regarding the Cease trade, a few publications had Iriarte as a top 100 prospect. As bad as that trade looks right now, you’re underselling it a bit for what it was at the time.

I love you fathom, but you must have daily nightmares about the Cubs trading for every good player.

Honestly, I hope the Cubs trade for Mason Miller. It's hard to think of a worse way to spend all your top prospects.

(He's phenomenal but ultimately only impacts 1-3 innings per week)

I still think we could see up to three more trades tonight or tomorrow.

The Sox are adding a catcher…that’s a 100% happening. My money remains on Stephenson. I think Wolkow plus a backend top 30 feels about right (and many here will hate that).

I think there is a 75% chance we add another SP. While a rental feels more likely, the way Getz framed things up earlier today suggests he’d consider languishing some top 100 prospects for a controllable arm. My gut tells me the Sox like Detmers, but don’t want to give up Carlson++. I could them offering up Hagen, McDougal++ and hoping no other team is willing to offer a big time positional prospect. Very unlikely that trade package works but we have seen stranger things.

If we ultimately go the rental SP route, it still feels like Holmes is the most likely dude for us. I’d love Mize but feel like the Tigers would tax us hard. Ray makes some sense but he’s not the perfect fit for our park. Rogers & Singer are other possibilities. Prices have been reasonable so far for rental SPs and I think Getz prefers that over further bullpen help given the need for bulk innings.

Finally, it feels like we need to make a decision on Hays tomorrow. Are we keeping him over Grichuk or Pereira? If not, does he have any trade value? I’d think some team would take a chance on him if we ate part of his salary. You won’t get much in return, but a trade tomorrow is better than DFA’ing him after the deadline.

Well, f*** me. Fooled again. 😁

Sure are a lot of guys that are expected to move by the deadline in 18 hours. It could really be a buyers market for rentals. Didn't love the Castillo deal but we only gave up money and honestly I'm glad we are spending something now.

Have a feeling it's going to be a wild entertaining Monday

Moving the deadline to August 3rd sure has sucked balls.

Even if he is. DFAed and is picked up, can’t we work out a trade with that team?

Nobody would claim him and take all that remaining salary on...but they could negotiate during that ten day window.

I always hated that period immediately after the trade deadline expired when the Sox didn't make any significant moves despite several rumors but we're still waiting, hoping against hope that a trade was made just before time expired that will be announced in the next half hour.

With Merkin killing all hope saying he’s confirmed no additional deals (in past years)

Didn't the Houser trade last year get announced late? Going way back i think the Loaiza Contreras trade too.

I miss the waiver wire when people would freak out when someone got put on it and 99 percent of the time it meant nothing.

That’s the only one I can think of. Maybe a pitcher.

sox still have a bunch of guys on the 40 Man that will need to be moved or traded if they want to add from other teams, I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet to be honest
