I don't really want to trade for Deitmers or anybody of significance unless the trade is clearly an underpay from our perspective. The team is still growing and young. I don't have expectations of a World Series this year. The team got good by developing young players.

The other item is having additional years of control, is nice. However, what are they going to be valued at given what next year could be, which is probably a shortened season?

I would probably do Carlson and Quero for Deitmers as my high package. My thought process is we have a significant amount of middle infielders in Meridoth, Antonocci, Montgomery, Cholowosky, Thome, and Prosek. I would imagine two of that combination hold it down for the next 10-12 years.

They could like Quero and feel like he is fixable. However, I would not trade any young pitching as this is something we are lacking.

Would the Angels really want Quero back??? Why?

Carlson is still at least three years away and needs to add power/strength.

New Angels' GM will likely want prospects closer to AA/AAA with the ability to impact the 2027 roster.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Detmers and Skubal will cost too much prospect capital.

R.Ray Wacha1A/Lugo1B E.Rodriguez Flaherty will be more about salary relief.

F.Griffin D.May Lambert Soroka another four maybes in teams of inclusion on the market.

The Angels just drafted one of the youngest players in the 2026 draft class with their first round pick in Grindlinger. I think they will take the best package of talent they can get regardless.

After Skubal is eliminated...if he is...you have the Rays Dodgers Braves that all have more prospects to spare to go after Detmers.

I think it's a bad offer, but people here are really sleeping on detmers. He was rushed as a 21 year old to the league. Didn't get a chance to learn to pitch professionally. He threw 62 minor league innings. Has very fun stuff, and looks like he's found some pitchability over the last season (2nd half last year, 1st half this). My only concern with Detmers is it's a lot of fly balls.

I'm definitely a fan though.

A lot of of fly balls. That could mean not a great fit for us. But we could use him of course. The Resenthal report about us potentially overpaying for pitching, and if it would be a fly balls guy, that’s concerning from a fan outlook. But I assume Getz knows what he’s doing. Although his description of Acuna was off.

I don't mind Detmers and I think there's definitely a lot of upside to him if he ever harnesses all of his stuff to be a more effective pitcher. But the proposed trades out there all rate him like he's an established near elite pitcher with 2.5 years of control left, which he is definitely not.

Cease was a better pitcher with a better track record when the Sox traded him with 2 years of control left. And even he only got 1 top 100 prospect and a couple of guys near the bottom of the Padres' top 10 at the time.

Given what we just went through with Cease and Robert and even Crochet other name trades, trying like hell in forums to understand the perceived low return of TOP ranked prospects…….we are the same fans willing to give up out top prospects for a guy like Detmers. Who don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Detmers. It’s the fans willingness to bend over is confusing. Like, we are sooo f ing thirsty around here.

To make it a finer point, we all have been taught most recently that the top organization prospect(s) traded is reserved for superstar trades. Even then, the returns aren’t what they might be in the past. That’s the new MLB. It doesn’t happen anymore for guys like Detmers. Thirsty suggestions that we act any differently just because the Sox suddenly have available trade capital, is not reality

Rumors are Detroit will be buyers as well. Geeze looking at the standings currently there’s only really like 7 teams to pluck from.

Eisert gave up all 3 in the 8th. And they might score more.

Seller's market

If you take Skubal off the top of the list...that tentatively puts a scuffling F.Peralta there, but still 18-20 teams chasing the same thing, quality pitching.

Maybe Mason Miller's availability takes 1-2 more better prospects off the board, though.

But now Aroldis Chapman gone...maybe StL still tries to sell high on 31 year old O'Brien?

Scherzer/Bieber yet two more wild cards.

7, but then you have another 4 who have 2 weeks of games to decide which direction they're headed, and another few could buy AND sell. The Padres always fall into rumors for that last one.

Every game matters. This race won't be decided until the final week. Detroit won't be selling and are still in it. Four teams in the running.

Soriano would be a decent fallback option...need depth/innings more than anything.

It wasn’t really on Eisert. Pirates defense and closer that was brought in for a 5 out save s%*# the bed.

Indeed. It’s fun to care about every game again but can also be infuriating. 😆
