It would be great if 100% of our players were home grown but it wouldn’t hurt to trade some and bring in somebody. You need at least one more SP, assuming Schultz keeps his spot. You have Shane Smith, Adams, Thorpe, McDougal, Sandlin. Trade two of those for a known commodity.None of those prospects would move the needle to get you a known commodity. Plus with them coming back from injuries, not sure how much value they have. Also moving cost controlled pitching for less control isnt ideal. Plus could slide some of those guys to pen.
12 hours ago12 hr Compared to last year, and with the potential cba issues in the fall, do people think teams are going to be asking for more for their players or less, and is taking on less money going to be more valuable or less?I have felt like for a few years, positional prospects are now worth a ton. The idea of trading Bonemer means sox would be going after a top player with control. But looking at most deals last year, they were pitcher prospects or positional players ranked 10+ in the system.

10 hours ago10 hr I love this year being termed as house money with baseball up in the air next year. Definitely a good idea to take this year for granted. I'm sure it'll be easily replicated in a shortened year if all goes well.
4 hours ago4 hr Grab the best starting pitcher you can for Carlson and go to war. Improve if possible elsewhere on the margins with a right handed catcher or something like that.Otherwise, just rely on bringing more kids up.

Then in his first year in the minors, he gets hurt and hasn’t had a chance to develop yet. And we want to trade him right now for the best starting pitcher we can get? I just can’t get behind that idea. Seems like this would be selling at his lowest possible value.

Lowest possible would be like Gonzo as a hitter after being in the system a couple years before Charlotte. He still was a high draft pick and is a premiere defender. 18 minutes ago18 min I do not entirely ascribe to the idea that the White Sox are "playing with house money" this season, or in any season. So they have already exceeded expectations ...so what. Never rest on the promise of the future at the expense of the present, in sports, or in life. We have a special team right now - a solid group of players whose skill sets and personalities compliment one another. With a few breaks and some luck, they can win. Sorry for that...but with all the talk about prospects, come Friday, it will be time to focus on winning now.
