I really can't understand the mindset of people who demand their fellow fans be "embarrassed" by losing, but root for the extremes. Liptak isn't a fan. I imagine he's still dealing with some Freudian thing with his dad where he needs the team he was brought up to root for to be deflowered by every other team he hates. Maybe he should talk to his therapist about that. Maybe you and Lippy can do couples therapy. I hear that's helpful.

I find it odd that there seems to be a good amount of posters who didn’t want to see a perfect game tonight.

I mean, I’m not upset at all that it didn’t happen but it would have been cool. If it’s only a few outs away I don’t care what teams are playing, I’m rooting for history and especially would enjoy sharing that moment with my son.

It's fanatic, which is the definition of crazy obsession in and of itself.

TexSox and Ptac would hardly agree with your black and white definition of how to derive enjoyment out of baseball.

That last place finish in 2025 is a large part of the reason why they're now drafting 1-1.

What is the "excitement value" to the fanbase in having that 1-1 pick to speculate upon ever since December, when no major free agents were close to being signed other than Murakami, who almost randomly fell into their laps at the last second...as his agent reached out to the Sox first as all other 1-2 year contract options evaporated.

If I was at the game and knew they were losing this one, I would absolutely root for it to happen. It’s one loss.

Peter's blast was a morale booster for a team that has already shown that it has a never say die attitude. Never, never surrender an at-bat for any reason including handing a pitcher a no-hitter. Give Peters credit. That at-bat took some gorliones. He squared up a 99 mph fastball and deposited it in the seats. Boom ba-boom boom boom, cancel the post-game show and see them on Sunday.

Nah this one is on me. Me and the boys went yesterday. We all got together after years of not seeing each other other than individually. One of them is a Cubs fan. The other had a Mexico jersey on. I knew we were doomed from the start.
