I wonder if JR had something to do with the pick, and Getz wanted somebody with the 2nd round pick. It will be interesting to see who that draft pick will be. However, its not like Landon Thome was some exception reach. I think MLB had him as the 34th player on their board and Fangraphs had him at like early 50s. Law also said in his chat that Thome was worthy of the 34th pick and he is the first one to point out flaws in the White Sox draft strategy in the past.
