These private equity dicks are making the world a worse place and one of their nepo babies isn't leading the White Sox to the promise land.

On paper this deal looks pretty much like a wash. They are taking on around 14 mil in added payroll. We have to hope that Castillo will have a positive bump in performance with the change of scenery. He is leaving a team that has been a huge disappointment this year and coming to a team that has been just the opposite.

I guess I look at it as it is better than nothing. I absolutely don't want the Sox giving up any of their top prospects unless their getting an all star with control in return. Realistically these are the only kind of deals the Sox can and should make right now.

I know this may be hard, but baseball owners don’t need to be your hero’s. We simply need someone who is better than the s%*# show that is Jerry Reinsdorf. And guess what, all signs point to Ishbia being willing to invest in his product and not being a risk adverse b****. I can’t believe there are actually adults who are upset over him taking over because his profession. Meanwhile, every pitcher on the staff has been pitching well; but we've lost 2 1-0 games since the break. He's looking for more 5.00 ERA pitching.

Oh, and the comp is the Shields trade. Getz emulates the worst of his mentor Hahn. Hopefully it turns out better on both ends.

Fedde has been way more productive than Castillo. Certainly doesnt deserve to lose his spot to him. Id be pissed if I were him. He seems like a professional though.

Because I have endured Jerry Reinsdorf my entire 42 years of existence in this world. He is one of the worst baseball owners to walk the earth. Finally we have hope of a new owner, one who has unfounded wealth, ties to Chicago, a willingness to build a best in class ballpark, a willingness to spend and be bold (through the Suns), and actually caring about the fan experience (again through the Suns). How he made his money should have no barring on any of this unless it was through illegal means. I have no beef with you but anyone siding with Tray on this matter should be called out. Teams carry a long reliever so I guess Fedde sort of takes that role.

The thing about Castillo that sticks out is every time you talk about buying pitching being risky and saddling you with poor performance with a huge cost…they always seem to move pretty easily. They half-lifed the contract and have a reliever they could easily trade (for peanuts) and a prospect.

Everytime people act like the team will need to have to attach value to get rid of a guy it never happens and they find someone who thinks a change of scenery will help.

You are the person who referred to a "savior owner". The business of sports talk is to keep all sports fans enraged. Then they tune in, or click and like, or whatever. Once Jesus Ishbia takes over, we'll all swoon. "Look!! He dropped the price of the new ice cream drink!! I love this guy!!" But he will say something. Anything. And everyone will turn on him. You will have JR all over again. He might even come in and spend a bunch on free agents that everyone wants. But then it'll stop. Because Buddah Baseball Owner doesn't buy a team to make you happy. 2) Nolan Jones is not a prospect. He was a top 50 prospect 5 years ago who has not been able to duplicate his success from 3 years ago. As a matter of fact, he moved from Columbus to Charlotte, a renowned launching pad, and saw his OPS drop 100 points.
3) Boston Smith is a fast riser. There are concerns about his contact rate and his ability to stick at a position he's recently taken up. He is a nice player to have in your minor league system. Because then you can trade him to supplement your major league staff and not touch the real prospects. I love me some Boston Smith just fine. I wish they didn't trade him. But his bat has so outpaced his catching, they might have to stick him in LF so he's not hitting .400 in AAA for two years while he learns to catch. And that is if higher level pitchers don't pick apart the gaping holes in his offensive game.

No idea what you’re arguing here. The definition of “savior” is someone who saves from danger or destruction. Jerry has destroyed the immense potential this franchise has. So yeah, everyone should be amped that we’ll soon have one of the wealthiest owners in baseball. And I don’t care if he makes money off the White Sox as long as he invests in his product and makes it something worthwhile. This is ultimately a business and that outcome would be a welcome outcome for both fans and ownership. What we have today isn’t working.

It would be so White Sox to finally get a super rich owner only for the league to neutralize the benefits of having a rich owner.
