I think it's reasonable to think Quero would revert to something like a lot of these catchers would get you, save Stevenson.

That said, we got several players that I think I'd have to squint to say are definitely, definitely gonna be better than what they were replacing.

I hope they are; otherwise what's point? They can't hit.

A kick in the ankle is much better than a kick in the balls. Thank you.

  • People watch Romo bat .100 with no power or walks for months and suddenly you're not happy with a guy who is a little below average at the plate

  • We gave up Duncan fucking Davitt who most people here didn't even know he existed prior to the callup. Literally nothing and improved the catching position.. I get you wanna b**** to b**** but at leas

It was sarcasm before I knew what they traded. I'm obviously not bothered by this

Maybe you should be

So basically for free. Wanted Stephenson, but guessing the price was too high.

Yes the price must have been problematic and maybe Teel will be back sooner than expected.

Reverse splits this year. Just brutal

They gave up nothing and he’s way better than Romo. What’s the issue?

Hopefully, he gets his Pirate vibe back.

Right. You don’t have to be thrilled about this but it’s an upgrade, period.

He's not great but compared to Drew Romo he'll feel like Pudge at the back stop.

Definitely not. Doesn't move the needle either way.

I don’t get the hate…sure I’d prefer Stephenson, but this is a big improvement over Romo. Who the f*** cares about batting average when the guy has an 88 wRC+ (and above 100 the last two years) vs. Romo’s 40. His defensive metrics are also up vs. prior seasons. SSS all around but this isn’t horrible.

Also I would bet money it is Quero being sent down unless he already has two send downs and would be DFAd, and even then maybe.

Way undervalued is a catcher's familiarity with his pitching staff especially calling games. That doesn't happen overnight. Hopefully not too much disruption from the ride the pitchers are on right now.

It’s wild man. I had to do a triple take when I was looking at Bart’s stats because I kept assuming I was looking at the wrong guy given all the negative views here.

AFAIK, either player can still be sent down. If I was in charge, I'd DFA Romo to make the space for Bart. But alas, I'm not even a little bit in charge

Yup, I’ve been a whiny b**** about a couple of these moves, but hard to complain about this one outside of wishing for someone more impactful.

Gave up nothing for him and I don’t need to see Romo anymore. Great!

quero will be sent down, not romo

It’s more that was the main spot they could really try to improve the lineup. Let’s face it, anyone is better than Quero and Romo. I was hoping for Stephenson, as he is hitting so well these days.

Thought it would be for Wolkow or Zavala...

nothing burger, improving at the margin though

(Davitt flying around a lot recently)

Quero is starting to hit a little bit now and is clutch. Getting his development back on track is way more important than keeping a scrub like Romo.

Their asking price for him is probably outrageous.

I agree and I still wont understand it.

I’d be very, very surprised if they send Edgar back down. It’s one thing when Kyle was going to be the every day guy but that’s not the case here and there’s at least some semblance of Quero getting his s%*# together. And Romo sucks.
