At least they didn’t use him in a close game and we learned the hard way.

I mentioned it around the deadline, but this has kind of a 2020/2012 vibe where the pitching was extended past where their talents and abilities were, and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these guy

Who woulda thought a guy with a 5 BB/9 in the minors, would not be able to throw strikes against better hitters?

Shocking. Good call up, boys!

Murakami has to be wondering if he picked the wrong team and will flee when his contract ends.

Now that's a bad major league debut

Like the golden sombrero of pitching

Getz really f*cked the chance to do anything meaningful in the playoffs, be lucky to even make them at this point.

He loves it here, but that won’t matter if they don’t pay up.

Yeah being on a first place team and seemingly having a ton of fun while it happens seems rough.

Just some insane takes pop up in here sometimes.

x2. Just wait for Hagen to so the same soon.

Game most likely now over with that 9th run crossing the plate but the Reds can really end it here thanks to McDougal

The pathetic pitching development is more to blame. Not being able to get anything out of a ton of resources they’ve put into these young guys is crippling.

Yeah I'm not like against him or anything but I've always felt he was one of those guys who too-online Sox fans are too optimistic about based on too little track record. And so I still need to see him prove it. This wasn't an ideal first outing for him given the rain, but it wouldn't have shocked me if he had similar issues in dry weather/low pressure/etc.

I’ve watched a ton of him the last two years. He has great stuff and was not nearly as wild last year and even to start this year. He hasn’t thrown in 11 days and has been up and down how many times the last few days and not used. It was a bad outing in his debut.

Yep, this is ultimately what it comes down to.

I personally think he is not here past next season....but it's all about $$.

Did they have him throw a single change up after his first good one?

This woulda been a W if we brought in Richards after Martin

True, but a GM should be able to assess and acknowledge this and trade for a second starter as a result. Cubs are going to win their division due to their deadline acquisitions of two starters.

I’m optimistic he stays

Ok score in the bottom of the 6th and we do have a chance.....anyone ever seen that movie Sybil with Sally Field?

Yeah, I think he just overrated what he had as well. He should have known Martin is cooked and he needed another high leverage arm in the pen. Billy Carlson better be the next Cal Ripken Jr.

Tanner was a 5th rounder taken out of high school who had TJS right after being drafted, so I won't list him anywhere near the top of pitching dev failures. Being a guy who looks like he may be MLB-quality is a dev success even if it's not crazy to wish he didn't have similar issues to some other higher-stakes draftees.

Cubs rolling has nothing to do with their two starters. Their offense is amazing now and the Brewers are collapsing

Why wasn’t Murakami in the lineup today? Rest? He should be an everyday player.

He will be gone any anyway. Reinsdorf won’t pay him.
