Today's performance really stands out after having some good offensive games at Wrigley and facing a some pitching that they should have teed off on.The reactions are a bit extreme today, but not necessarily unwarranted. You're pretty generous calling the performances at Wrigley on offense "good". Scoring 3 runs in 2 games against a team with immense firepower like the Cubs is definitely not good. And they left a ton of RISP and made a lot of very questioning decisions at the plate that cost them. They were fortunate in Game 3 that it didn't bite them because Urquidy absolutely cooked. I'd say it was a mediocre performance at best.

The issue for me is that some of that has been entirely avoidable, if this team actually used some semblance of plate discipline and knew when and how to challenge. The when and how to challenge has been a BIG problem lately.

Being mad at strikeouts specifically is a complaint that hasn't been relevant for 40 years. Colson's problem is that he doesn't walk as much as we thought he would. Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by nrockway

Just hasn’t gone their way.

2 hours ago2 hr It's also immensely frustrating watching another pitching gem go unrewarded because this offense sat on a stick. They didn't even try today.

2 hours ago2 hr I'm not surprised there's a bit of a hangover after that playoff like Cubs series. Wish today was an off day.

2 hours ago2 hr I guess the team just forgot how to hit today. Pretty pathetic showing from the offense.

I'm pretty bullish about taking 2 of 3 against the Mets. I know they ahve been playing better but some of that is catching bad opponents at the right time (Guards, Pirates, Nats).
2 hours ago2 hr Fucking hell the doomers coming in here just now after having not seen the innings against Holmes. The fact he had a no hitter going was the purest, dumbest, blindest luck I've seen a good while.
