I have been extremely positive that this team always bounces back and maybe the pressure is getting to us all, but yeah Tuesday's game about broke me.

I really hope they can hang on, they've been such an awesome group. We almost always had 2 pitchers that could find it and enough offense to stay a game or so above water, but I don't know what to say with the pitchers now. We just are toast.

At least pitching wasn't the problem last night, for the most part. Lack of offensive execution, poor lineup construction and some bad luck was the killer. The Pirates also managed their bullpen better, treating that game like a playoff game. We didn't have the same urgency after Martin left.

If they can take today's game they'll be 2.5 up again. One game at a time.

Castillo is pitching, right? Lol

Venable is managing like it is the playoffs, in that he isn't going to guys he doesn't trust, and trying to extend the ones he does. Hence a dude like Newcomb staying out to die.

Hagen Smith is opening. Don't know who is coming in after.

If that's true he needs to realize it's a huge mistake and stop it. Taylor has been his high leverage guy and he didn't use him. Hicks has been rocky lately but has done well enough to be trusted. Murphy and Richards came in when it was too late but did well.

I have plenty of gripes with Venable’s tactical/in-game decisions, but let’s not ignore the fact that he’s having to navigate bullpen games basically every other day in the thick of a pennant race.

That’s just a brutal ask.

The current situation makes the late season 2000 White Sox rotation look like the 90s Braves in comparison.

So this thread didn't work, I guess ron lost his magic.

We still have the gnome in my front yard. Today I noticed it was leaning to one side. Am happy to report he's standing straight again.

That should get us back ontrack.🤪

Viagra or Nugenix?

In response to the thread title, I only cry because @WestEddy and @CaliSoxFanViaSWside have both apparently ghosted the site amidst this awful losing streak, as they usually do when times look bad.

Even though they will no longer have to exert any effort trying to defend Getz’s awful trade deadline moves, since it is obvious at this point to any non-homer White Sox fan, I am still praying for both of them every night because they are still White Sox fans afterall.

Hopefully, they will both make their triumphant return to this site once the Sox manage to win a game. I miss them both, as I am sure we all do…

Even Autumn Dreamin has been thrown off by Mune's slump and inevitable benching...

I certainly don't agree with this. Sox were really a 70 win quality team last year so bumping to 85 or so is nothing extraordinary. The Tigers and Royals went from 60s/50s wins into the playoffs 2 seasons ago.
No, it will be a calamity if the Sox don't make it this season.

As for the future, Getz has a lot of work to do. I don't know if he's up to it, because what he's good at, working the waiver wire and scrap heap, really isn't what needs to be done. He needs to make some young player for young player trades and most of his trades have been one-sided and on the other teams' terms.

Agree with a lot of this but again, to be fair, JR is still running the show and history shows that JR's main concern is "fiscal responsibility" (his own words).

That doesn't give Getz a pass for his stupidity but things may not be totally in his control.

Yeah, her analysis was so spot on, calling PCA an overrated bust that wasn’t worth his contract extension. Questioning that his contract extension would be worth it. Oops. Good prediction there on the NL MVP. 🤣

She literally had a grudge against a prospect that she watched in the minors, and admitted to such. That’s why I laugh and have pretty much ignored her posts going forward.

A total collapse. 2012 ckoke all over again.

Ok, how about bringing up Thorpe and Sandlin? Getting Meidroth ,Antonacci, Peters, and Grichuk as many at bats as possible?

I think Autumn Dreamin is one of the best posters on the site. Everyone on here has their share of god awful takes. To each their own I guess.

I'm not smiling. I hate being right.

I'll second this. I'm not sure why we're throwing her under the bus now that the Sox are in freefall. She's provided some good posts here over the course of the season.

Not that this is the only criteria, but I don't see her picking fights with other posters, incessantly arguing about the same topics, engaging in "told ya so!", or anything like that. I really can't say that about some others on this site.

Castillo and Doyle aren't the reason this team is bottom 5 in offense in September. It's pretty much the first full season for everyone beyond Vargas. I think they're all just gassed.

Okay. But both acquisitions have added a single win to the team post-trade deadline. The point of the trade deadline is to make moves that actually improve your team, which Getz failed at. At what point will you admit this?

When it becomes apparent. Suffice it to say, I'm judging the TDL on different criteria than you. I've laid out my feelings on this multiple times.
