The poster was saying if they play like they have all season, they'll be fine. They've been positively mediocre all season, so I don't see that as comforting.

I agree, it's not comforting, and I'm not sure anyone truly expects them to get far in the playoffs, provided they get there. They have been an exciting team, up until recently, despite not having a great record. What has made them exciting (the offense) has disappeared. If the offense gets their s%*# together, they might be okay.

11 hours ago11 hr I also reran the simulations based on each possible result of the Cleveland series. If the Sox get swept, their division odds fall to about 12%. If they go 1 and 2, theyre still around 59%. If they go 2 and 1, it jumps to around 88%, and if they sweep Cleveland its around 98%. So even losing 2 out of 3 wouldnt completely kill their chances, mostly because winning one game would secure the tiebreaker.Obvious how important this series is, but this shows just how big of a swing it really is.

It CAN happen, but it won't be easy.

That is the guy you want but he could not get the job done and of course Mune did nothing. I think it's time to start bunting moving guys, stealing bases, squeeze plays.........whatever is needed because the typical approach of waiting for SLUG is not happening, especially in moving runners and with guys on base.
