Cleveland threw their top two guys at home...and we're going to Chicago up 2-0. Incredible. Cleveland would have maybe 1 run for the series without a couple misplays helping them? Postseason ERA for t

The Sox are currently:

+170 to win the American League

+750 to win the World Series.

I'm going back to bed I'm definitely dreaming

100th win for the Rays. It ends at 103.

Sox in 6

The only team that truly scares me is the Dodgers. I'm pulling for them to lose.

This team is so awesome. Taylor Da Gawd! Burke with a great performance and good to see young Braden step up in the clutch.

They've got the Tribe on the ropes now.

Don't let up. Step on their throats!

Sox have a 89% chance to advance to the ALCS according to the ZiPS odds on FanGraphs. FanGraphs themselves have us at 82%, but I'm not sure how accurate that is past the regular season.

weird get that same 88-89% number with all mlb playoff series in same situation historically...better odds even coming home up 2-0

wouldn't be surprised if same for NHL and NBA too about 90%

Taylor shouldn't be available for game 3.

Why? He threw 7 pitches tonight and there is an off-day tomorrow.

Amazing that the Sox haven't clinched a post-season series at home since 1906. Time to end this 120-year drought on Wednesday!!!

Williams had 11 strikeouts but Burke posted the better top line out of the pen

They win tomorrow and we go to the ALCS for the first time since I was born ( aside from 05 ).

Guardians ripped for not adding more offense at the deadline.

Kind of crazy in the sense that Adell's double is ten feet higher and a totally different article gets written.

Margin of feet and even inches.

Like Braden's double down the RF line.

Must be pretty annoying to Red Sox Nation.

"The temperature was 61 degrees with a 13-mph wind in from center, and White Sox pitchers used it to their advantage. The Guardians hit the seven longest batted balls of the game, and all but Adell's triple ended up being flyouts.

*Kay (96.7 mph) and Newcomb (97.3 mph) also averaged well above their season fastball velocities, which made it more jarring when Burke's first fastball clocked in at 91.8 mph."

White Sox Beat Guardians at Their Own Game to Take 2-0 AL...

Anyone else starting to get 2007 Rockies vibes from these White Sox?

Williams has great stuff, but 0 wins in 5 starts against our Sox this year. His last 3 in particular have been remarkably similar:

  • August 8th: Guards up 2-0 to start the Sox half of the 6th. Mune solo HR, then Miggy reaches to chase Williams. Sox string together good ABs against the reliever and leave the frame up 5-2.

  • September 14th: Scoreless tie to start the Sox half of the 6th. Beni single and generational AB from Peters to chase Williams. Sox string together good ABs against the reliever and leave the frame up 6-0.

  • October 6th: Guards up 2-1 to start the Sox half of the 6th. Miggy reaches to chase Williams. Sox string together good ABs against the reliever and leave the frame up 4-2.

Different LHP relievers each time (Herrin, Holderman, Sabrowski), same result of flipping the game. Meidroth with the favorable matchup came through with a key RBI hit from the 8th spot in all 3 games.

Thinking back on yesterday's game...Sox had 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs after Sabrowski faced his minimum 3 batters in the 6th.

Would Venable have called on Taylor to protect the 1 run lead in that spot? Pretty decent chance I think.

Smith instead pitched the 9th with no lead to protect.

Kinda interesting that Sox have seen the opposing closer in 4/4 games, but never when actually behind.

Love this. Have always felt some “cool movie baseball teams from 90s Hollywood” kinship with the mariners. Glad they reciprocate.

A part of me thought we may take Florida from Tampa bay too.

Braden Montgomery's post game interview was a small glimpse into this young man's psyche....very thoughtful, intelligent non cliche responses.

He has struggled at times but his high character kept him resolute. He is built for big moments like today. Never gets scared, very cool. He has some of that athletic arrogance needed to persevere thru tough times.

Very good genes and upbringing from his parents.

Dad was good running back at Iowa, mom is Iowa med school physician.

I couldn't take him any longer. I turned the sound down and just watched. Not only was he pro Cleveland but he was dank and dark, just depressing, taking the excitement away. ...............LFG!

I am starting to wonder about Davis Martin, I just saw his picture on a milk carton.
