Is ESPN joking?

Featured Replies

In it's article on the Zambrano suspension, the following statement is made.....

Normally, you could excuse an outburst like that, given the pressures facing any player vying for the prestigious, legacy-building BP Cup.

They are making this thing out to be bigger than the Stanley Cup.....and for most Chicago sports fans, I think they could care less about the trophy.

If they were being sarcastic, so be.....but read the article and judge for yourself. The statement doesn't appear to be made in a sarcastic nature. (it's beginning sentence of the 8th paragraph)....

Pretty sure its being sarcastic. Maybe they should consider the green font?

Yeah, I thought it was a pretty funny comment.

LOL at anyone taking that line seriously.

+1

Some people are just too quick to turn anything attached to ESPN into the satan worshiper's hour.

I'm pretty sure I remember Jon Greenburg ripping the BP Cup when it was announced so it definitely sarcasm.

That line smacks of sarcasm. I can't believe anyone on Earth could think otherwise.

Maybe Zambrano's really angry about the oil spill?

It sure sounds likes sarcasm....

I assume the BP Cup is name after you know what, that in and of itself is bad.

Yes.

And f*** Chicago for not dumping the BP sponsorship.. but I guess it fits right in to accept dirty money in these parts.

i hope they have a big trophy ceremony for the BP cup. that would be awesome.

Jon Greenburg is an incredibly sarcastic writer (I actually like him) so it's sarcasm.

It's pretty sad how many people have had to question/verify whether or not it was sarcasm. Really sad even.

This is the second preposterous thread Sin City has created (the KW for GM of the year thread being the other) in a short amount of time.

Haha. :lolhitting

Unless this is the smartest thread ever, gettin everyone to take the bait, at own reputation's expense; that would be kinda heroic I suppose. I don't think that's very likely though. Somebody has to be a glue salesman.
