OF Abner Abreu and a RHP Carlton Smith. The Cub will also pay $3.9M of Fukudome's remaining salary.

It's offical, Fuku to Cleveland. Quite the signing that turned out to be.

Thank you Jermaine Dye, Shingo & Iguchi for forcing Fuku to turn down the Sox higher offer and sign with North Siders.

To be honest, I would have liked his OBP on the Sox.

I would like it before August. After, not so much

Maybe not for $12 million though. (Although that's about what Dunn is making for OBP and little else)

I'd take Fuk for 12 over Rios for 12.

I can't argue with that.

Yeah the Sox I think offered him 14 million. That would have given us another high priced guy to b**** about and another one to add to the fire Walker list.

BTW, I really don't see why Cleveland needed him. They need some arms.

They definitely needed him. Sizemore & Choo are still out for several weeks. Michael Brantley is decent. Then who do they have in the OF? Travis Buck? Ezequiel Carrera? Austin Kearns?

Looking at his defensive stats, he's actually been a worse RF this year than Quentin.

That's all right Rudy will fix him!

Funny how I see both Chicago team mirror each other in hitting. Poor plate discipline and they all shut down at once. At least the Cubs tried a new but highly though of hitting coach to produce the same results. I always thought if the Sox had Big Z, he could be used as a pinch hitter. He likes to work on his hitting. Maybe they need that kind of inspiration.,

Entertaining 5th inning in this Cubs/Cardinals game.

Entertaining 5th inning in this Cubs/Cardinals game.

Quade kept arguing Holliday's clean, legal takeout slide until he got tossed.

Guess he wanted to take a shower rather than watching the collapse.

Quade's going to go down as one of the worst coaches/managers to ever lead a Chicago team.

How does he compare to Bevington in your mind?

Lance Lynn looks good

5 runs in the first, one hit the rest of the way. The Cubs need a new hitting coach.

So are the Cubs going to get draft picks if Pena leaves after this season? I have no idea what they're doing with regards to not trading away anyone they can.

If they offer him arbitration he might still be type B, I dunno. Would you offer him arbitration and risk having him accept?

Beachy is pitching for Atlanta today on wgn.

Just mentioned: In some important corners of the Cubs' front office, there is concern about investing huge $ in one player this winter.

Then Zambrano's gonna be in some trouble.

LOL at Marmol. Gives up a walk-off granny to some kid named Brian Bogusevic. And it was a bomb to center. I guess the kid is from the south burbs, went to De La Salle.
