December 3, 201411 yr 1.I saw the Braves are going to Non-Tender both these guys. They both have surgery before last season. 2.The timetable for Tommy John Surgery Canidates is usually 12-14 months. One could imagine that both would be able to contribute to next seasons roster. 3. I would think they would be worth a flyers on with incentive laden deals. A team could probably give them two year deals. White Sox are in need of right handed starting pitching. At the very least, you could have them come out of the bullpen. 4. Both of them are in the prime of their careers so age is not a factor. The only negative is this is the second Tommy John Surgery for both of them. You wonder if the stuff will still be there. My Question Deal or No Deal?

Medlen has 2 years of control and Beachy has 3
December 3, 201411 yr Beachy is a converted position player, so the arm troubles were predictable. Medlen has had two TJSs. I would proceed with extreme caution.

December 3, 201411 yr QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 02:04 AM) I believe they both have had 2 TJ opps. there is 1 who is the sp, i would really like a chance at him.

December 3, 201411 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 02:33 AM) They both are SP i would have thought Brandon was a rp due to the innings he threw. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...traderumors.com
December 3, 201411 yr The question is whether anyone will offer them a major league deal. For us, that would require putting them on the 40 man and right now that's something I'd hesitate about a bit. If either are up for a minor league deal with a ST invite then they'll have their choice of teams to go to, and with our reputation we've got as good a chance as any.

There's 1 spot available right now and we're already removing people who I think could have contributed next year as much as these guys. I'd like to think we could do better with that open spot.

I'd like to think we could do better with that open spot. maybe, i am not disputing you here, but before he got hurt, he was a real nice surprise. stash him on the IR until he is ready, a nice inexpensive element to use. the sox can still squeeze that 40 man roster a little more.
December 3, 201411 yr QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 07:04 PM) I believe they both have had 2 TJ opps. I would not offer much th en. The esearch is not favorable with pitchers that have had more than one surgery.
December 3, 201411 yr Speaking of rehabs, what happened to Tommie Hanson? Did he ask for his release from the Charlotte roster?
December 3, 201411 yr Is anyone interested in Alexi Ogando from Texas or Everth Cabrera from San Diego? Both non-tendered.
December 3, 201411 yr It's really a shame that both of these guys have had awful luck with injuries. They both were so good when healthy. Medlen, in particular, was nasty during that 2nd half of 2012 when they moved him into the starting rotation.

Medlen, in particular, was nasty during that 2nd half of 2012 when they moved him into the starting rotation. Sometimes the reason they are so good is because they are throwing in a way they shouldn't which is why the ball moves differently and the reason they become injured. They would not be good withoutthe bad mechanics.

December 3, 201411 yr I'm sure Medlen would like a 1-year deal to regain his contractual value. Let's sign him for 1 year, then flip him midseason for prospects.
December 3, 201411 yr I'm not sure if anyone has talked about it, but maybe Wesley Wright would be a nice pickup on a minor league deal. He looked solid last year for the Cubs and would add another lefty into the mix now that snoddy is gone.

He looked solid last year for the Cubs and would add another lefty into the mix now that snoddy is gone. Robin really sounded impressed by Surkamp during last September. I wouldn't be shocked to see him as the second lefty, while they look for a closer type righty out of the pen.
