Reports: Sox sign Brad Penny

If you guys thought steroids were bad:

In 2005, a Florida Marlins batboy was suspended six games for accepting a dare from Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brad Penny, a former Marlin, to drink a gallon of milk in less than an hour without vomiting

Depth

Depth is people you could actually use. I don't think there is anyone with the White Sox counting on this guy to be anything than spring training meat or a Charlotte Knight.

It's no harm unless they somehow convince themselves he can actually help them win real games.

Is it now easier to support this team?

That's the question.

Penny Hanson Wang (in Asian accent).

Ha, we did the same thing when I worked on the floor of the CBOE in like 2000. Kid could have made something like a $1000 if he could have kept it down. Let's just say he didn't.

Well, he can't be any worse than Paulino.

Paulino was much worse. He was on the 40-man, and really had a spot in the rotation from the day he signed.

Careful...

Seriously, his arm might be toastier than Paulino's considering he's barely even pitched the last couple years.

Penny for you thoughts

Trivia question, which threw the hardest in 2014, Quintana, Danks or Penny?

Since no one figured this one out, the answer is a shocker, with Brad Penny clocking 91.7 mph on his fastballs!

I, Brian Anderson have been just waiting my time to get back in the game.

No but seriously, Anderson was trying for an invite last year - didn't get one. He done.

Surprises me that Q threw softer than that.

I am excited for the day BA returns to our organization. If his bat could play a bit, he would fill a major defensive need for us.

He did, barely, at 91.6 lol.

I was surprised old man Penny could throw that hard.

lol....why? He's going to flame out in ST anyhow.

Kudos for waiting to post until someone mentioned Anderson.

Thank you! Been lurking since about 2007, forgot I had made a profile until I saw the great Brian Nikola mention...

He can compete for a spot. If/when he gets shelled in ST then no harm done.

I wish soxtalk had a like button. Rowand44 said it all.

Down from 94.1 in 2010, and a career average of 93.2

Welcome to Soxtalk.

BA will do better with Robin he has a penchant for getting Ozzie's kids in trouble. This stifled BA's and Ozzie's boy's career. Neither did well in baseball after that. (teal)

Do you just read through the threads waiting for Brian Anderson to be mentioned? If so you should be given some sort of an award
