Another umpire thinking everyone came to see him last night in Washington. takes mask off, yells at Vogelsong when Vog said nothing, Vogelsong walks in a few steps and gets tossed. Give me a break.

Big Papi made a rare start at 1B yesterday. His first in Fenway since 2005. It also was the first time the Red Sox went an entire game without a putout from their 1B (over 17,000 games). There were just 2 ground ball outs. One was at the Big Papi who flipped to the pitcher covering, the other was a bunt attempt with batter interference.

Brewers now just 1 game under .500 under Counsell.

White Sox also now just 1 game under .500 since the day Ron Roenicke was fired. Welp, lucky for Robin, firing Ron Roenicke fixes everything!

Nothing MLB related but, I just wanted to know if any of you guys remember the reliever Don Pall in the early 90s for the Sox.

If you do, he's 53 and pitches for this men's summer league team that I am on lol. He is great.

The Pope hell yeah.

Only 6 teams in the NL have a winning record.

There are 4 terrible teams in the NL- Rockies, Brewers, Phillies, and Marlins. Milwaukee has been better but they'll regress back again.

Ultimately, when they get to the final 5 weeks of the season where they play 8 out of 10 series in the division, having the Marlins and Phillies in the East will help the Mets (and Giants in the West), and hurt the Cubs.

Runs Scored - Runs Allowed first 81 games:

Top 5- KC, Hou, NY, LAA, Min (1749-1587)

Average game 4.32-3.92

Middle 5- Tor, Bal, TB, Tex, Det (1800-1683)

Average game 4.44-4.16

Bottom 5- Cle, Sea, Bos, Chi, Oak (1572-1710)

Average game 3.88-4.22

White Sox 3.41-4.38

Not only is the Sox offense an embarrassment, their starting pitching has been below par besides Sale and Quintana, and the bullpen isn't that great either.

I mean, the bullpen has improved about as much as we could have expected from the terrible 2014 unit. It's basically middle of the pack now. We're sixth in starting pitcher WAR and second in the AL, and everybody is more or less performing to expectations if you look outside their ERA's.

A lot - or even most - of that bad ERA can be pinned on bad defense. I'm not comfortable blaming the pitching when the position side of things has been so disappointing in every way.

That's fair. The Sox starting pitchers put up more innings than anyone. They're up there in quality starts. So there are positives. And then when the bullpen has to be perfect all the time because of the low scoring, bad things sometimes happen.

The starting 9 on a daily basis is the biggest problem in every way.

How much are those runs allowed impacted by our crap defense?

Sox pitchers are 9th in WAR in MLB (#3 in past 30 days).

Sox starters are 6th in WAR in MLB (#2 in past 30 days).

The difference between our ERA and our fielding independent metrics are consistent with playing in the AL, playing at US Cellular Field, and having what is by far the worst defense in MLB.

Don Cooper can't fix the offense!

Bring back Greg Walker and Scott "The Scooter" Fletcher to work with Gordo...

Unsure if we will have a unique trade thread, but Kazmir pulled after 3 innings.

Hug watch?

False alarm.

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 58s59 seconds ago

Scott Kazmir left the game with left triceps tightness.
