February 9, 201610 yr What's the deal with Mat Latos? Is he still good? I heard he wasn't a good clubhouse guy. I also wonder if this means that a starting White Sox pitcher is on the move.
February 9, 201610 yr That is a really nice deal for the White Sox. It gives another righty to mix, and it is cheap and short term. Well done.
February 9, 201610 yr That's a really nice add for basically nothing. Wow. Very happy with this. Give this team another bat & let's see what they can do.
February 9, 201610 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) What's the deal with Mat Latos? Is he still good? I heard he wasn't a good clubhouse guy. I also wonder if this means that a starting White Sox pitcher is on the move. Good peripherals, bad ERA. So bad that the Dodgers, who traded for him, DFA'd him a month later. It's a low risk high reward type move. FWIW, his fastball velocity was actually pretty decent last year in comparison to 2014.
February 9, 201610 yr Author QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) Lawrie and Latos. The all-asshole team. and we bring back legacy a-holes now. Carl was at SoxFest
February 9, 201610 yr Author QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) Good peripherals, bad ERA. So, the opposite of Erik Johnson

February 9, 201610 yr This is slightly more than it cost for Paulino, so not a bad gamble, although he really sucked. At the very least it shows they really weren't counting on Turner being able to step right into the rotation.
February 9, 201610 yr Latos may be an asshole, but this is a very solid move. Danks & Johnson competing against Latos for the #4 & #5 spots is way better than them competing against Turner and now we actually have some depth (assuming Johnson starts in AAA).
February 9, 201610 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) Sour grapes, but would have rather had Henderson Alvarez for 1.25 m more Me too. Despite him coming back in June.
February 9, 201610 yr Great signing. He could find it and realistically be good enough to receive a QO next offseason. Giant douche though. Should be a fun season at least.
February 9, 201610 yr I love the gamble, especially with a low base salary. Erik Johnson is definitely on the hot seat.
