  1. Yes? He was (and still is) literally the perfect match for the Sox.
  2. It wasn't a minor league deal, but point remains.
  3. Wow. Like 4/$32-35M. Would be shocked to see higher AAV than that on a 4 year deal.
  4. Yep. I think it makes a ton of sense assuming Springer isn't happening. Even with Springer, I'd still try to bring in Joc or Dahl. Its not like either is going to be expensive.
  5. To me, depending on what the roster size is going to be for 2021, Dahl is a guy you bring in along with another OF. You definitely cannot count on him to play 125+ games in RF. He's an option, not the solution. Bring in both Joc and Dahl. If everyone is healthy, Eloy can spend a little more time at DH and it also gives the Sox a little safety blanket on Vaughn, as well as the inury prone Eloy and Robert. Another combo that I kind of like is Brantley + Dahl. Brantley DHs to start the year, Dahl in RF. Again, helps with injury concerns as a Eloy/Robert/Dahl OF is going to spend some time on the IL, and Brantley can fill in the corners with Engel/Leury as needed.
  6. Oh and Avi still isn't a fit for this team. He literally checks none of the boxes.
  7. Starling Marte is a guy who would have made a ton of sense to acquire last deadline. Doubt Miami moves him a couple months after trading for him, though. My list, as you can probably see, is definitely tiered in terms of handedness and defensive ability. Sans Springer, who is obviously the best player of the group by a wide margin, the rest fall in line mostly in terms of how they play defense. Except for maybe Joc, but he'd be a straight platoon in RF and his defensive is fine.
  8. Of the FA's I think this is the obvious tiers for RF (in terms of fit for the Sox, specifically), IMO: Tier 1: Springer Tier 2 (in order): Joc Pederson, David Dahl Tier 3 (in order): Brantley (docked for not rot really being a RF), Jackie Bradley Jr, Adam Eaton (docked for being an asshat and a likely torched bridge, despite a pretty good fit) Tier 4 (in order): Josh Reddick, Nick Markasis, Robbie Grossman, Jurickson Profar (not really a RF, but I am sure he'd be better than at least half the guys before him on this list)
  9. Sure it’s been mentioned but Dahl would be a nice fallback option.
  10. The fact that he's skeptical/negative about everything?
  11. LETS TRADE IT ALL! EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN BUILDING FOR 5+ YEARS! ALL CHIPS IN NOW! 2021 WORLD SERIES OR BUST!
  12. Really interested to see some of the names that get non-tendered across the league today.
  13. I've seen you say this like 5x recently. Vaughn isn't spending any more than a few more weeks in the minors, barring injury or trade.
  14. Rosario doesn't suck. He's a pretty good hitter - but he doesn't walk much at all. He does hit from the left side which is a benefit. I watch a lot of Twins baseball (I live in MN), and watch pretty much every game when the Sox aren't on. He is a VERY bad defender. Eloy level bad. He is not a RF. Sign Springer, move Eloy to DH, sign Rosario to play LF and trade Vaughn for elite SP could be a route, but short of moving Vaughn and shifting Eloy to DH, there is no role for Rosario on this team - just like Ozuna would not a fit either. This isn't THAT hard to understand.
  15. I don't think anything is "holding them back", except for maybe Jerry's reluctance to spend the cash necessary to turn this team into an immediate WS contender by going out and signing Bauer, Springer, Quintana, Pederson and a closer and going to business. But now is not the time to push all our chips in via trade and move really any of our élite young talent. Trade from the second tier, or just use money and sign players.
  16. No. Under no scenario should the Sox tender Mazara a contract. Non tender him and resign him for half the cost if that's what you need to do. But there is no reason to pay him his projected arb salary. That said, I hope we just move in another direction unless 28+ man rosters are back for 2021, in which case I'd be fine bringing back Mazara for a couple million as a backup plan. But it still doesn't make much sense as he adds very little value to a bench.
  17. Ozuna is not a fit on this roster. He can’t play defense and hits from the wrong side and blocks our best prospect.
  18. Yeah, I think that’s probably well light.
  19. But I still really like Micker, but you're probably right.
  20. Not a whole lot of fat after those three. Vargas, Zavala, Mercedes and Gonzalez probably the next 4. Maybe Rutherford.
  21. Correct. I see Ray has since said he was serious (though I didn't originally read it that way), but in any event, still sort of uncalled for. I know I wouldn't want people calling me disabled on the internet. But I also occasionally see other people just absolutely rail on him on twitter. Again, I don't follow that closely so maybe some of it is warranted (stealing other peoples tweet ideas and what not). But it gets very personal. Seems like some guys are just jealous of his following, and like Orlando said, its insane the number of grown ass men that are obsessed with trying to "body bag" him. As I said earlier, just let him be. Peavy on the other hand absolutely spammed and ruined this board. A little different.
