  1. This. I fully expect an exciting up and coming bench coach who will take over for TLR in a couple years. This guy isn't going to manage more than a couple seasons.
  2. A very very very good (perhaps elite) reliever on a 1 year $10M deal? I think he'll get claimed. What the Indians do with respect to payroll probably isn't the best guide to how ALL MLB teams will be operating.
  3. I'd be surprised if he made it to the Sox on waivers. Oh to be an Indians fan.
  4. ANyone have a link to the presser? Pretty please.
  5. No, still not the answer for this roster. Though, despite his shortcomings, he'd have been a MEASURABLY better option than Mazara in 2020. If the Sox want to do RF right for this window of contention, they'd get an above average defensive OF who can hit left handed and mashes righties. That isn't Ozuna.
  6. Because he’s good at baseball?
  7. He's a great fit, honestly. But I think the bridge is burned, charred, and still smoldering.
  8. TLR certainly wouldn't be my choice, but IDGAF who manages this team if the Sox go out and sign what they need to sign. Realistically, all of the top names have some warts. No matter who they hire, a portion of the fanbase will be irate. IMHO, pretty much anybody is better than Ricky. I do worry about how TLR would relate to the Sox roster, but these guys are professionals and need to go out and do their job no matter who their manager is.
  9. Why would a manager have any impact on the dollars the organization is willing to spend this offseason?
  10. So who is sitting on bench between Abreu, Grandal and Vaughn? Cause if they want McCann catching most days as you state is their wish and they are willing to pay to get it, one of those three are on the bench.
  11. Its just insane. Sox sign one of the best 2 catchers in the game to a very reasonable FA contract. He is the guy he always was and remains an unbelievably good fit for the future lineup. And half the fanbase wants to trade him to make space for a guy that is measurably worse player, a measurably worse fit, and a FA that will command a decent commitment this offseason. Makes zero sense whatsoever.
  12. Trading Grandal is such a terrible idea for this offense. He is legitimately the exact kind of player the Sox need. Good plate discipline, lineup balance / switch hitter, going deep in counts are all major weaknesses of the sox young core. Trading him and then signing James McCann to a deal that beats 29 other clubs offers just seems very.......dumb.
  13. I don't see how there is any way this is remotely accurate information.
  14. Keuchel deal or less I like him. anything more than 3/55 or so and I’d pass.
  15. Joc is a fine 1 year stop gap if we get into like Feb and couldn’t do better. Joc being anything more than a fallback option would be very disappointing. We have one major hole in the future lineup and no one knocking at the door to take it anytime soon. Make a deal for a real RF.
  16. They're just my estimates. I didn't know we couldn't pontificate until a manager was hired. Noted.
  17. I think it’ll be 60% Jose 1B and 40% Vaughn (once he arrives in late April). Other DHs. In 22, 70% Vaughn 1B and 30% Jose. Then its Vaughn’s position. By then, Eloy will be the DH.
  18. OF defense would be atrocious, but Eddie Rosario is probably a coin flip to get non tendered in MN. Not even sure if he could even fake RF, but he could be an option. I think we’ll see a fair share of somewhat surprising non tenders this offseason.
  19. If Bauer isn't a #1, there are only a handful of #1 in the whole game. Everyone's definition of a #1 is different. Is it a true shut down ace? Is it a team's best starter? Is it a top 15 SP in each league? Top 30 in the game? Doesn't really matter, but Bauer is really really good. He's a "#1" by all definitions above, but perhaps not one of the best 3-5 SP in the game.
  20. In an ideal world, we acquire our RF for the next half decade plus this offseason. We have no one in the minors who projects to take that role during this window of contention. I want SP too, and you can never have enough. But I feel like we project pretty solid there into the future that adding one mid rotation starter to a multi year deal and a back end guy on a 1 year deal is plenty if coupled with a legit RF acquisition.
  21. I’ll take the under. By a lot.
