    Todd Frazier Available

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) If the Sox sign Freese, I will not attend a game. He is not what this team needs. Especially spending 10 million a year on him through his 33-35 aged years when you know he'll miss at least 20-25 games each year. I won't go that far but Freese is a worst case scenario for me. I'd much prefer a Lawrie-Saladino-Sanchez infield that a Freese-Saladino/Sanchez-Lawrie infield. That is $10M in AAV that needs to be spent on a better player.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) If this means the Sox are standing firm on not dealing Anderson/Fulmer/Rodon/Q then this is excellent news. There are better ways to upgrade the offense then dealing a potential cornerstone. There is no way Rodon or Q are being moved for someone that doesn't have 4 or more years of control, and is an impact bat. In reality, Rodon is probably untouchable. The fact that CIN even went there is comical. But I am glad to see Hahn sticking to his guns on Anderson and Fulmer (more reasonable asks, but still not guys I am moving for a 2 years of Frazier).

Plans for rest of the Off Season

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) Suarez is not the long term solution. He's more likely to end up a utility infielder ala Ramon Santiago. There's no way they trade Frazier/Cozart/Mesoraco...any combination of two out of three...for less than Anderson/Fulmer but more likely Quintana or Rodon as the target. Then they won't be trading with the White Sox, and likely will be holding those three while they lose 90-100 games the next two years.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) If the Sox don't acquire a SS, I'd be more comfortable trying Sanchez in the 2 hole, than Saladino. I like Tyler, but I don't think that he profiles well at that spot in the lineup. That is where Sanchez has regularly hit, and where he has had his best success. However, he would have to improve significantly, over his Big League performance. last year. You're way too obsessed with trying to fit guys into a prototypical spot in the lineup. While it's nice to have guys whose games generally fit into a spot in the lineup, it really shouldn't be priority #1. There are plenty of guys that could bat in any spot in the order.

    Hahn is shopping LaRoche

QUOTE (glangon @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) He went through the organisations that he did because he was blocked by All-Star MLB talent. Toronto - he had Bautista and Encarnacion ahead of him and was DFA'd to free up roster room. Dodgers - He had Gonzalez ahead of him and was DFA'd to make room for Corey Seager Orioles - DFA'd him after picking up Hoes. Had him for 2 months. Mariners - DFA'd him after picking up Lind. He's available at the moment. I reckon we pick him up on a minor league deal with an invite to Spring training ready to come in when we eventually DFA La Roche. His stats last year was .251 with 18 homers and 79 RBI's in AAA. What is your obsession with Wilkins??

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) If I am trading Tim Anderson, I am getting a young cornerstone player back with some real control. This. Thankfully it appears Hahn agrees.

    Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets

Not a huge Cespedes guy. I'd prefer Upton. Cespedes doesn't walk much, and while he has a cannon for an arm, he isn't a GREAT OF, but he's definitely an improvement over Melky/Avi. I'd definitely take him, but think he's going to get paid much much more than he's worth, but in todays game, that's pretty much the case with every FA.

What about Carson Fulmer for Ryan McMahon?

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) LaRoche is a substitute for them eating cash on Gonzalez. No one is taking LaRoche.

    Teams asking about Thompson

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 07:09 AM) I would trade Tim Anderson before i consider dealing Trayce Thompson. Trayce came up and made all the other outfielders on this team look below average to adequate defensively. He also impressed with the bat, yet it was a small sample size and Robin kept benching him for some reason? I'm not saying a want to trade Anderson, but IMO Trayce is going to be a special outfielder! I hope Trayce tuns into a quality ML OF as much as anyone here. But people are putting wayyyyyyy too much stock into his cup of coffee. He should in the Sox plans no doubt, but there is no any the Sox value him more than Anderson. Zero.

What about Carson Fulmer for Ryan McMahon?

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 10:27 AM) Montas, Danish, Guerrero, Engel, LaRoche for Gonzalez, McMahon? Too much? Too little? No one is taking LaRoche. But I really hope that doesn't stop the sox from adding an OF and shifting Melky to DH most days.

    Rockies Outfielders

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) And Trayce could easily be as good as any of these guys, so let's find out, instead of not finding out when these guys won't bring the Sox into contention anyway. And don't forget to factor in Coors field in the stats evaluations. Dear lord.
  13. ChiSox59

What about Carson Fulmer for Ryan McMahon?

Montas for McMahon seems like a better fit. Definitely no to Fulmer.

    Thoughts On The Upcoming Season

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:17 PM) Best case scenario, win 82-83 games to claim a "winning" season, then let Ventura leave and hire a legit major league manager with experience and bring in a solid, professional staff. Not friends of the owner or former players. As many baseball people with ZERO ties to the Sox as possible. Worst case scenario (and unfortunately more likely) they get off to another horrid start (haven't has a winning April since 2009) are irrelevant again by Memorial Day and decide since they aren't going anywhere to keep Ventura because they have no other option. They waste another year of the "three year window" LOL!!!! And get even more lost in the Cubs completely dominating their own home market pushing them more and more into an afterthought. Mark What a great fan!

    Thank You Everyone

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) Jim Margulus. He's actually a very good writer and journalist, though he doesn't have that "edge" that Cheat had. The best writer that covers the Sox, IMO.

    Thank You Everyone

This is a great place. I love it. I started posting on WSI when I was a young teenager back in early 2000's, but didn't find this place until 2010 or so. I just lurked and read for a few years, but finally joined and started posting back in 2013. Haven't looked back since.

    Dexter Fowler

QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) When do QO expire? I seem to remember Ervin Santana's QO expiring before he signed. Could be wrong on that, but I do remember that they expire at some point. Wonder if teams might let guys like Fowler and Kendrick wait it out. Day after the draft.

Jason Heyward to Cubs (8 yrs 184M)

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) Wouldn't be that shocking if Cubs were going after Jose Fernandez this entire time. Soler/Baez/Contreras/Hendricks/Torres could easily get it done. I don't know about that.
  19. ChiSox59

    Dexter Fowler

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) They won't give up a top 30 pick for Fowler. At least I hope they don't. I dont think many teams are going to be lining up for Fowler to lose a pick. I could almost see him getting the Morales/Lohse treatment and not signing until very late, or even not at all until the draft has passed. Doubtful, but possible.

Who are the worst players in White Sox history?

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 06:44 AM) Greg, I wonder sometimes if you have ever watched a game of baseball in your life. I wonder with nearly every post he makes. Clueless.

    Hahn is shopping LaRoche

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) Well at least they tried. At this point if the Sox are willing to eat $8m just to wave him goodbye might as well just eat the whole $13m and release him. Better off holding onto him and hoping he finds his stroke, IMO.

    Rockies outfielders in trade talks

QUOTE (kevo880 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) No one is saying he has to be traded. You misconstrued what I said in a different thread on this same topic. Those of us (most of us) saying to get rid of him are saying that for a couple reasons; the first being that he isn't a good baseball player at this point and has shown that he hasn't adjusted to anything. Yes I know he is still young, but he has spent parts of 3 seasons now in the bigs. The second being if we trade him now then we might actually get a little something for him, or he can be a secondary piece in a trade for a bigger asset. If we do what you said and send him down to AAA then non tender him, what is the point of that? Well, plenty of people have said he has to be traded. In fact, someone in this very thread did. I am fine getting rid of Avi if you can something meaningful for him. I am all about improving the OF defense. But Melky comes first in my mind, and he should DH as much as possible. If you add a quality OF, I am fine with a Eaton-Trayce-Quality OF set-up, but Trayce isn't going to get 600 ABs next year. They'll continue to protect him against RHP, IMO. Look, I just think $2M is a small price to pay to send a guy who has oodles of talent down to AAA in hopes of him figuring it out at the dish. If he doesn't so what. Its $2M, which is chump changes in todays game.

    Todd Frazier Available

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) Todd Frazier certainly fits the mold of guys the Sox go after and then completely falls apart. The low contact guys just crush us. This. I like Frazier and all, but I could totally see him batting about .220/.290/.390 with the Sox. Just not worth giving up any of Fulmer, Anderson or Adams in my mind.

    Rockies outfielders in trade talks

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) They have to take Avi too People..Avi does NOT have to be traded. He has an option. If you acquire someone like Cargo, send Avi down to AAA to work on plate recognition and bring him up when there is a need. He's still fairly cheap. Not saying you don't move him if you get value in return, but so many people think the Sox HAVE to move him, and that just isnt the case. Having options is never a bad thing. If he fizzles out in AAA, non tender him next year.

Plans for rest of the Off Season

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:48 AM) I've been reading that the Dodgers are trying to get a third team involved to work out a trade for Jose Fernandez. I'm wondering if something like this could work? Dodgers get: RHP Jose Fernandez RHP Frankie Montas OF Marcell Ozuna White Sox get: RF Yasiel Puig Marlins get: LHP Julio Urias OF Joc Peterson SS Tim Anderson C Austin Barnes You don't trade for Puig right now.
