Still.  Gallo or Sanchez would have been my vote.

I'm glad they gave it to a pitcher. It's too easy to hit HRs nowadays when every hitter is trying to hit it out of the park in every at bat. It's home run or K. There were an abundance of K's tonight, so glad a pitcher got it. He wins that big truck just cause he pitches for Cleveland, though. Rewarded the home team to get a few more cheers. It coulda easily been the closer to get it, Chapman.

Great now we get to host the World Series Oct 22. Can't wait.

I thought they stopped awarding home field advantage in the World Series to the all-star game winner?

And congratulations to the American League, the REAL Major League. Seven straight wins and congrats to the three Sox players who helped make it happen.

They did, Lip. 2016 was the last year, I believe.

I thought the game was entertaining. Mic'ing the guys up was pretty awesome.

I really liked this.  When the players yelled I got it...I got it...I got it loud and repeatedly I was hoping the Sox players where listening.  We get so many near collisions it's scary.

Not really a fan of the all star game.

Home run derby is kind of fun.

Just give the dudes a week off....

With interleague and MLB.tv the novelty factor of seeing NL players (or vice versa if your a fan of an NL team) has long been gone and that was the primary attraction.

I agree the game was boring the mic'd up stuff was a fun addition but the game itself was boring not sure what would change that.  Other sports are having the same problem so it's not just unique to MLB everything is so media saturated now that the novelty of having all the superstars in one place isn't there.

When I was a boy the ASG was *the* big game of the year for me, most likely because the possiblity of the Sox in a pennant race was simply not part of the calculus back then.

You're right, but there's something nice about seeing your guy  in the fancy jerseys, on a national stage with guys you know are great that an all-MLB team wouldn't capture.

I would like the game a lot more, haven't really watched it since the mid 80's, just catch highlights if:

1. Like Billy Martin and others have said, not every team should be represented. If your 20 out at the break and flat out suck, it is hard to justify having a player off it with a more deserving one sitting at home just because every team needs to be included. (Part of the justification at one time was so that fans in that market would actually watch to see said player.)

2. Fans are only allowed to vote one time, just like in an election. This eliminates the big market (i.e. Yankees, Red Sox) fans from stuffing and inflating things. One fan = one vote. You can't legislate against fan stupidity but you can also help limit it.

Just my opinion.

Yep, the interleague play has killed the all star game. Frankly I've lost total interest since it doesn't determine home field. I'm probably the only fan ever who was intrigued by that concept.

I feel the cities are the only reason they still have the all star game. The cities have saved it. The shows are spectacular (softball, home run derby, futures game, all star game) and the cities embrace the game making it first class. And they'll always have at least one player from every team. I would like to know what grade school kids think of the all star game now. Do they tell dad, "Boring. I want video games tonight," or are they embracing it like we used to. I remember it was a HUGE deal if a Cub pitcher faced a Sox hitter or vice versa. The result of those at bats were huge for bragging rights at school. Also NL vs AL for bragging rites as a kid was huge.
