This is exactly how I feel about the buzz word “socialism.” Most of the people saying it can’t explain it. Even worse is “Marxism.” There’s not chance they can define that in their own words.

Republicans are truly great at branding and getting the masses to buy in. “Radical left,” “liberals,” “Marxism,” “the Squad,” “socialism” - all messaging that Fox hosts and Rush hammer over and over again.

I have no doubt the typical Fox viewer couldn’t a member of the Squad other than AOC, and they almost certainly couldn’t tell what the initials AOC stand for.

I read Fox News. I don’t really watch any news.

Scout’s honor, this is off the top of my head- socialism is the public ownership of industry. The USA uses some vaguely socialistic ideas but nowhere do we really get closer to true socialism than Iran’s nationalization of the AIOC’s oil wells in the 1950s or Venezuela under Chavez/Maduro more recently.

Marxism demands the state disappear in order to form a classless, stateless society. This has never existed and is, honestly, out of touch with human nature. It has been tried, however, and inevitably leads to murderous totalitarian regimes.

I could name the entire squad and provide their states and even reference a few proposed bills (like the one where Ayanna Pressley wants to abolish life without parole), but, overall, they’ll have no more impact on my future than Marjorie Greene or Lauren Boebert, so I’m not going to bother. There’s 435 members of the House and most people would be hard pressed to name 10 of them. They’re not as powerful as some voices would like to suggest.

Those who mention socialism or are Trump republicans truly believe that the progressive agenda will get passed if the Democrats got the majority. They do not have the numbers to outnumber the other members of Congress and get them to go along many of their policies. There are probably 95-105 members at most between the house and senate, all in different states and unlikely to have constituents that all want M4A, the Green New Deal, court packing or free college. I don’t think many people even know about what these policies even are, they just know “radical policies bad.”

I'm quite surprised you dispute this contention of Republicans. We are in an era where everybody votes party lines (cept maybe the West Virginia Democrat senator, we shall see). It's a new era. It's completely partisan. Remember the boycott for the vote of ACB? Not one Democrat thought she was an acceptable choice and stellar human being, not one??? Certainly not in 2020.

Why do you think so much money is being spent in Georgia by the Democrats to assure majority in both Houses of Congress. Just my take, I know I'm in the minority here so I post at my own peril, but the Democrats/Pelosi/AOC are aware if Georgia runoffs give the Democrats a Senate majority there will be 2 states added (assuring all those electoral votes every election), there will be court packing (assuring Democratic majority of justices) and there will be Green New Deal, there will be a ton of new immigrants (who will vote Democrat) and in my opinion (I'm not the only person who feels this way) abolition of police and possibly no prisons (per Kaepernick/BLM requests). Blast me all you want, I'm not the only person saying this stuff.

I read Fox News and CNN on my phone twice a day. ... I listen/watch youtube snippets of Clay Travis, Whitlock, Hannity, Carlson, sometimes Laura I if I can find them on my phone quickly. I watch no news on TV. I should probably watch snippets of Cuomo, Lemon and Cooper on youtube as well but frankly they say things that tend to really anger me and I've decided reading CNN is enough. No reason to have my blood pressure boil to an out of control level.

No prisons? C’mon man. Off the top of my head, Pressley’s bill on criminal justice reform is one of the wildest out there and all it does is eliminate life without parole and the death penalty. I think that’s a dumb idea, but at least I’m arguing against something that has been credibly proposed (even that has slim chance of passing). What you are worrying about is not seriously proposed and is dead on arrival if it ever is.

Even the mildest on your list of your fears, court packing, isn’t likely to happen since Joe Manchin has come out against it.

Also, why will all the new immigrants vote Democrat? First off, nothing is monolithic, but I suppose it would lean heavily that way. Maybe that’s because Republicans have given up on winning immigrants. No matter what Tucker thinks, there’s nothing about being born in Tegucigalpa that makes you naturally favor big government.

The massive voter fraud cover up in PA is now being argued that while the observers were 6 feet away, they were only 6 feet away from the first row of counters. Seems what they are saying in court and what is being tweeted and screamed on Fox News don't exactly add up. I guess you have to be a little more honest when your law license is on the line.

Defund the police means defund the police. The no prisons thing is REAL. BLM and Colin want no prison time for lawbreakers. I also fear the buyback of guns which is Kamala's goal.

Greg, take a look at the video I posted. I think you may agree with a lot of it.

Oh My goodness Yermin. I love Bill Maher!! A Must watch video!! Thank u. Oh baby do I endorse what Bill is saying! Sending to all my friends. thank u

I especially enjoyed his being appalled at nobody saying a word about all the looting/violence of Antifa and ridiculous cancel culture. Monumental video. I have liked the new Maher cause he rips both sides equally. I'd vote for Maher for president just like I would the former wrestler.

Bill Maher is a first class prick. I stopped watching his show a long time because I can't stand his simpleton bull shit, not to mention his racism and sexism. Jesse Ventura is another simpleton who likes to say dumb things just to get attention. This stuff about Antifa is more bull.

Everybody is racist now a days apparently. We better cancel him.

Hate on Bill all you want, but he's right. There's plenty of "simpletons" that agree with him. The "holier than thou" attitude shown in your post is a big turn off to those simpletons.

Actually the FBI recently said hate crimes are at an all time high. So racism is pretty rampant.

Hey NWIM give the video a chance and tell me what u think about it. Maher's positions could save this country if abided by IMO. He rips Republicans and Demos alike which is why I love him now. The new Maher.

Greg, you really need to understand the difference between meaningful opinions and non-meaningful ones. I’m sure I could search for @antifasbootyhole on Twitter and find a sixteen year old who wants to abolish prisons and mandate gender reassignment surgeries. That’s the beauty of social media- every idiot’s opinion can now be seen by everybody else.

It doesn’t mean that stuff is going to happen, and shooting it down is still very much a straw man. Heck, even people in major legislative bodies can be insignificant. Take Ayanna wanting to abolish life without parole- she’s actually in the House and I would bet you $1,000 straight up that her proposal won’t even see a vote in the next thirty years.

There is no way under the current environment and in our government that the Green New Deal gets passed, in addition to court packing. These are all talking points that you need to assess the reality of.

I split tickets and know a lot of ticket splitters. The data supports ticket splitting in 2020 and so it isn’t party lined voting. The justice you mention is fine as a human being, even if I wanted more out of her judicial background to understand where she is on issues, if she is a Clarence Thomas or John Roberts. I had more of an issue with the senate ramming her confirmation through than I did with her.

Even with a 50-50 senate, there is no way that all members will do what you have mentioned and moderates won’t go along with it, given their constituents. Either there are compromises or there is a divided government where McConnell doesn’t call bills or works with Biden to get things done.

Read something other than cable news for starters. Read the Bulwark, National Review, the Chicago Tribune, New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Commentators are the worst that you can listen to, news requires context and commentators should be what you consider your opinions with, not formulate them with. Listen to today’s episode of “The Daily” about the divisions in the Democratic Party and you will see how the progressive wing and the moderate wing don’t agree on policy, how the debate of the future of the party is being discussed and what the new administration needs to consider about what voters want. It’s more fascinating and insightful than cable news and the commentary that leads to fear mongering.

Bill hit the nail on the head regarding the Democratic party's failure in the Senate and house elections. Defund the police is one of the worst and dumbest political catch phrases out there.

Right, because the policies being proposed are not about defunding, that is just the street term. Instead, reforming policing is what it is. Resources are going to both policing and to social services. They need to change the name and ignore the rhetoric of what is being mentioned and seized upon.

Hey Jack Parkman, as far as student loan debt cancellation good news is coming. All debt to be rescinded soon, so I hope that helps young people out.

It could happen, but not in the way that progressives have proposed. Instead, he is offering $10,000 of student loan forgiveness for those who work in national or community service for a certain amount of time or forgiven at a certain amount of time worked.
