  2. You had nowhere to go than up.
  3. Seems to me that in recent years Chicago weather typically doesn't turn colder until mid-October. So, late regular season games and early playoff rounds usually aren't too cold. With climate change, I'd expect that trend to continue. Of course, it could rain any time throughout the season. So, it's primarily the start of season to May 15 can often be cold. And not every single game thru May 15 is very cold either. Is that and occasional rainouts worth building a $500M roof and possibly poorer aesthetics? Most teams have decided no. If anything, perhaps a new ballpark could provide more common areas that are climate controlled to give fans a place to go to warm up (or cool off on those 110 heat index days)? They have that now in the Club Level concourse, but that's only available to people with Club Level tickets, so it's very limited.
  4. Today

  5. I thought the D had a nice game considering all the injuries. Was legit expecting Bijan to have 200+ total yards today.
  6. The defense isn't good, but serviceable. The back end is just bad.
  7. The contrast between I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS and I DEMAND A DOME Is endlessly entertaining to me
  8. Browns haven't been in first place at this point in the season since 2014...two games in one day meters apart fwiw Rays and Brewers were the two best teams throughout the course of the season from each league. Rasmussen vs. Messick a true big boy game in the crisp fall weather. Most important start in thirty years for CLE, Darling? try 2016 not 1995/97
  9. Nice to see the Bears get the win with New England and Seattle coming up...but man do they like to make things difficult for themselves.
  10. The Rangers' stadium just looks so ugly from the outside... At any rate the ROI for protecting April 1st through May 15th and September White Sox games of having a dome just isn't worth it. Teams like StLouis KC Colorado that draw fans regionally from long distances on the weekend don't have domed stadiums in their plans, either.
  11. In theory, JR's traditional position wouldn't be to make $20-30 million offers for starting pitchers while crying poor simultaneously... That said, teams with $$$ to spend should be striking hard and quickly before December 2nd. If we're talking the Mahle's, Bubic's and Eric Lauer's of the world, maybe?
  12. Who was it who said Kyler Gordon doesn't matter?
  13. Bears D needs to step up here, you'd think 31 points would be a comfy win
  14. What a choke job.
  15. Ben’s going to get destroyed by the media if the blow this
  16. The “red area” thing is driving me nuts. I know he’s been saying it for years, but I usually have games muted.
  17. Getz seemed to imply they would be aggressive in free agency for SP and right out of the gate. I think people here are over-estimating how much a potential lockout will impact our spending. I still don’t see why it even matters as you don’t pay players during a lockout anyways.
  18. Plus a few hundred millions in repairs every couple of decades like what's happening in Milwaukee and Arizona now. The problem with retractable roof ballparks is that they can end up looking like warehouses. Aside from Milwaukee and Toronto, every other cold-weather city has decided to go with an open air ballpark and it's worked out fine for them. For the second year in a row, there were postseason games at Dodger Stadium where the temperature was 100 degrees. Maybe everyone should insist that they put a roof over Chavez Ravine.
  19. According to the latest Josh Nelson Sox Machine video, there is no Plan C. The current options are JR's taxpayer-funded 78 plan or Ishbia's Amtrak yard plan and that's it. There are several ways the South Loop stadium plan can still fall apart and, being a Sox fan used to us not having nice things, I'll believe this is happening when there are shovels in the ground. But as of now, Ishbia has been buying up several other properties near the site for millions of dollars - which shows his confidence in and commitment to this project. We're also still a long way from Amtrak totally abandoning moving out of the 14th St. site. First of all, they have the federal exemption and city hall can't simply block their move to Bridgeport because of NIMBY objections. Also, there are other paths to resolving neighborhood objections beside Amtrak staying at their current yard forever. They could agree to extra levels of mitigation at their new facility or they could find another parcel for their maintenance yard. As far as where they'd go if the South Loop options totally fail? IMO, they may as well stay at the current site, build a new ballpark there, and try to get some development going on the parking lots. Soldier Field and Michael Reese would be worse sites as would any suburban option.
  20. As Tom Brady said... this is a different offense with Caleb Williams.
  21. Political cover by gutless politicians...using the "out" of knowing this is going to happen so they stand against it...many of the same people who are "against" this transaction (swapping of railyards) will be at the ribbon-cutting ceremonies celebrating the jobs/money that these projects brought the city when they open!
  22. According to ChatGPT: I think the Sox need to add at least two starting pitchers and a veteran reliever heading into 2027. Tyler Mahle seems like a realistic FA target, with Kris Bubic, Trevor Rogers and Jack Flaherty also worth considering. I could also see Getz trading from the organization’s infield prospect depth for a controllable starter rather than spending big on a frontline arm. My prediction is one established FA starter, a lower-cost veteran or trade acquisition, and bullpen help. With the young core developing, I’d like to see them get more aggressive rather than settle for another patchwork rotation. A legitimate No. 2 starter should be the priority.
  23. No prospect trades. Spend money ffs. Lets go!
  24. Not sure it’s one I want the Sox paying. Plenty of free agents. Go spend
  25. He was also the best SS in MLB for a stretch in 2026.
  26. Which is why he keeps adding surrounding properties. Besides you have already tried and failed at this trope.
