  1. Past hour
  2. The problem is, if you commit to him being full-time DH, you’re relegating Quero to the bench. And I’d rather rotate the catchers there to get them the most at bats in a lost season.
  3. Posted elsewhere before I saw this thread where it's much more relevant: I don't really see the need to just dump Benintendi. Sox could certainly do worse than a league average bat at DH, as we've proven plenty over the past decade. When healthy, Benintendi is fine, and all things considered, his salary is high for the Sox, but not among his peers. Could the Sox do better? Yah, of course. Will they do better if they dump him for a shitty overpaid pitcher? Almost certainly not.

  6. The crazy thing is that the payroll still wouldn’t be that high even if they did sign Imai.
  7. I can't see Jerry allowing any more big ticket signings with Robert still on the payroll. Okamoto doesn't really fit here anyways unless the Sox are seriously considering Murakami at 3B. I'd love if Ishbia stepped in and aggressively went after Imai. He is arguable the best of the 4 coming over from Japan this offseason and would give the Sox a legitimate ace starter.
  8. the reason they can't find a bad contract swap is because Benintendi's Achilles is rumored to be hanging on by a thread
  9. On the same point, the '77 WSox Hitmen were so much fun to watch and in this day and age, would have drawn even more fans. The atmosphere in the stands back then was crazy.
  10. The excitement about Murakami coming to the WSox probably has little to do with the fact that he is coming from Japan. Reinsdorf already knows how one player or a couple of new players could excite the Sox fan base....which begs the question, "why hasn't he done it more often?" Consider when he brought Fisk in from Boston. Fans went crazy on Opening Day in Comiskey in 1981. Fisk had already homered at Fenway in their Opener. Fisk responded again in Chicago with a grand slam home run. As we now know, Fisk, Luzinski and Kittle all became fan favorites and made us occasionally wear the ugly '83 uniforms. The roof shot home runs from those guys drew fans into the park. So if Murakami, Colson, et. al. hit some bombs, more fans will come for the show.
  11. I was surprised that everyone passed on him when waived last season. And since then, he basically did what he’s always done in the minors.
  12. A Robert + Leasure to the Mets trade could be interesting, but not for Luisangel Acuna.
  13. I’m not shocked they’re on the team, I’m more shocked that Benintendi is on the team still. Surely there has to be a bad contract for bad contract swap
  14. Yesterday
  15. It's cold AF here and dark. A warm summer evening with some brews and baseball sounds nice.
  16. I normally get mad at grammar errors when people don’t use a period at the end of a sentence. 🤣😉
  17. I normally get mad at spelling errors but seams is acceptable on a baseball forum
  18. Which probably means it is some combination of the Reds not wanting to give up that much talent and/or the Sox not wanting to eat $10 million, since they haven’t agreed to a deal yet.
  19. Yeah... that seams highly unlikely. Sox want pitching for Robert, yet are going to trade away pitching? No chance.
  20. Michael Harris is the only guy from the Braves that would make any sense at all in this type of trade.
  21. This is what we know. Nightengale reported on active discussions with Reds and Mets and said Sox are targeting pitching in return. Wittenmyer reported Sox could eat as much as $10 million and he specifically mentioned Brandon Williamson, Chase Petty and Julian Aguiar. The comp pick hasn't been reported anywhere. I'd take any combination of those arms plus the comp pick for Robert right now pretty easily.
  22. Nothing to this, just posting for the spectacle of random trade ... I won't even call them rumors. Brain worms.
  23. I still think Joshua checked a lot of punches. Yea he broke Jake’s jaw, but that knockout punch was such a “here it comes, buddy” windup lol
  24. Im not sure what's so embarassing or funny about that quote. As owner, JR should be brought up to speed from his marketing department and GM about the on field and marketing implications involved with signing Murakami. This is something the Sox have never done before. This isnt Ohtani or LA so can anyone truly know how much this signing may mean as to increased revenue from various sources yet ? If it was expected to make that much of a difference why wouldn't someone else outbid the Sox ? Boyer is going to have to earn his money if there are Japanese sponsorships and advertising and season ticket revenue out there from the Murakami signing. This is just what corporations do before an unexpected major transaction since it all happened so quickly.
