9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
I think it's better to have it next Monday and give them two days off. Have a feeling we'll be in the playoffs by then but it might determine the division

9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
They should. Sox off tomorrow and tigers with short travel back to Detroit.

9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
Yeah. But the way I look at it is one of Houston or Texas will likely knock each other out of the playoffs. If Houston get to the playoffs, likely as a division winner IMO. They look really bad though. I think if we win and they lose today, it's over for them when it comes to the wild card. Like I wouldn't celebrate a playoff clincher yet today with that result but..... at that point... it's close to 99%.

9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
Have a feeling we get a repeat of 08, if it's necessary.
-
9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
Being in the last wild card spot with Houston (who has the tie breaker) right behind is is unsettling. These last few games are going to be nuts.

9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
Will they wait 4 hours to get the game in is the question.

This Day In Sox History 9/20...
Hopefully 2026 ends in a similar way.

Mike Shirley resigns
That was just round one.

9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
Tigers play this Monday through Wed so would have to be made up the following Monday, if necessary doesn't look good but could actually end up a badly needed extra two days of rest for the bullpen

9/20 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
Martin vs. Melton Not sure if they are gonna get this one in. Looks like the rain clears eventually but they would have to wait quite a while. Lineups TBD

And that's a grind it out White Sox winner!
These stats are heartwarming and all but we’re talking about a small pool of teams to start with. I think only 13 teams total, and only four in the modern era.

I wonder if they’ll go with Burke on Thursday and Martin on Friday. That way you’d them available to start to the first two playoff games if we get there.

The pathetic MLB playoff format
The people in the biz saying the playoff format is the reason why the AL sucks this year I think are misleading in that assertion. The NL isn’t that way and they are under the same format. For whatever reason it’s just a bad season for the AL. Not sure if anyone can point to one specific reason. One contributing factor could be more interleague play…if NL teams are better then theoretically they are going to beat up on AL teams more.

The pathetic MLB playoff format
I mean, it’s the entire AL thats mediocre this season so all the records look shitty and undeserving. Then you look at the NL and it’s all higher win totals and it looks like an inspired race to the top. more playoffs is fun, I like fun. Never go back, always have fun

The pathetic MLB playoff format
The 1973 Mets took the NL East with an 82-79 record, then beat a 99 win Big Red Machine team for the NL pennant. The Mets gave the Oakland A's all they could handle but lost 4-3. For me that was one of the more entertaining playoffs and WS I watched. I would not change the present format for the playoffs based on one outlier season.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
I'll cut Lori some slack because she is a White Sox fan but it's a reach on her part.

Need more Houston Horrors/Rangers in Danger

9/19 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
all time Sox playoff team since 1905-1919 versus perhaps the poorest Sox post season team at least W-L record-wise

2026 MLB Catch All (Non Sox, Non AL Central)
Gave up on SD when down 5-1 for Ole Miss/LSU crazy game a lot of youngsters contributing, including 20 year old catcher Salas w/ game winner another Miller blown save in recent weeks Tatis headed for Top 6-10 fWAR finish after being total garbage first two months Mize won't even make playoff roster

9/19 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
Never say never, we were pretty good against them in the 2005 WS.
-
9/19 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT
That's what happens when winning the division is no longer in your own hands and you have to rely on other teams losing!

Magic Number
Me too. Houston seems way low to me. After tomorrow, they have 2 @ Sea and 4 @ Oak. That is 5 wins almost guaranteed. Since they have the tiebreaker v. the Sox, we can't afford any slippage. Texas has 3 v. Mets and 3 @ Minny. Not a tough road either. We need 6 more wins and a little help before I'll breathe easier.

Fire Chris Getz
Well regarding what Getz has accomplished building a competitive team, judging by what’s happened lately, we don’t quite understand which is the real team. The current squad or the one that led up to this lower level of competence. The Yermin Mercedes team was fun until the wheels fell off. I think we can safely say that Getz has built a floor more than a roof. The ceiling is not the roof tight now. So Getz has been overrated, but he’s done his job of pointing the team in a positive direction. I will take it and hold off on the pink slip
