  1. Past hour

  2. Jim might not trade Mack to the Bears just because his brother is pissed that Tennessee wouldn't even discuss trading Simmons.
  3. Maybe he meant Ventura had all the leadership qualities of a Washington General.
  4. I always thought uncle Joey from full house looked like the adult version of that meathead guy.
  5. Today

  6. I wonder if the Bears might inquire about Nate Wiggins. If Baltimore is gonna blow it up, and everyone else on the defense is expensive and worth little. If they want a 2nd round pick, eh.. I might be out. If they want a 3rd, I'm 100% in. Still a very young player as well. He'd be a worthy, if not fantastic, CB1.
  7. This is a perfect example of why you gotta be careful with Free Agency. Santander had one really good year in a sea of okay performance and now he’s an albatross that will force them to part ways with team leader George Springer. Oh, and he’s outspoken about religion and politics while remaining a citizen of Venezuela. Might be the worst current contract. Thank God Sox dodged that bullet.
  8. The Crain's article above shows how badly they've screwed this up. This is a quote from state Senator Cunningham. “They have tried to hammer away at this narrative that it’s either Arlington Heights or or Hammond,” Cunningham said of the Bears organization. “They undermined that before by having ongoing discussions with the city in April and May of last year. They will say publicly that’s our only focus, but we’ve seen in the past that while they might say that publicly, they have been willing to talk about other proposals behind the scenes.”
  9. Crain's has a second Bears stadium article today. This one is about the general legislative efforts. I don't know how to post paywall-free links to these. https://www.chicagobusiness.com/politics-policy/ccb-chicago-bears-stadium-20261106/ From the article: "Goodell, Bears owner George McCaskey and team President Kevin Warren met with Pritzker’s key aides and the top legislative negotiators, state Sen. Bill Cunningham and Rep. Kam Buckner on Nov. 4, according to the sources. “We expect productive dialogue with both leadership teams in the coming weeks. We have a responsibility and obligation to explore every option available to the club, and we look forward to developing a transformational project that will attract global events and deliver jobs and economic growth to all of Chicagoland,” the Bears statement said."
  10. I feel this honestly.
  11. Agreed. I hope they can make a few moves before the lockout happens so we can at least talk about those.

I'm so annoyed that I can't get any energy about who should be signed knowing we are headed for the lockout.
  13. The McCaskey family has screwed this entire situation up about as bad as it could possibly be.
  14. Proposals like this can be fun to think about...but it is almost absurd to consider how many groups have chimed in with ideas...at a time with this process should have been long over! The image on the article (can't get past paywall) is awesome looking (like most proposals would do) but transportation issues must be huge in that location...or am I wrong about that?
  15. Another day, another Bears stadium proposal. This time for the old US Steel South Works site. Somebody wake us all up when there are shovels in the ground either in Arlington Heights or Hammond. https://www.chicagobusiness.com/politics-policy/ccb-chicago-bears-stadium-related-midwest-20261106/
  16. If you do the first thing, you don't really need to do the second. Especially if you sign 2.
  17. Trade “what” for young pitching? Strikeout King Colson?
  18. This is the equal of Put up money for retirement Win the lottery In other words, you aren't trading for "young pitching" without giving up a significant amount in return, especially if that young pitching is also good young pitching
  19. GreenSox replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sign 1 or 2 starters. Trade for young pitching. Don't be on the RedSox side of a Crochet trade. No one-year wonders.
  20. If you've never had Cafe Su DA (Vietnamese Iced Coffee) you got to try it. It is better...stronger too.
  21. https://www.yakimaherald.com/sports/professional_sports/mariners/who-is-jason-kanzler-here-s-what-to-know-about-mariners-new-manager/article_833d86b3-9e47-5cb4-91bc-7cdd0f6ca954.html Risky, but Vitello had all the college experience in the world and it meant very little in the majors. Better than a 2-3X recycled veteran. "According to club sources, communication breakdowns around Wilson’s tenure — between Wilson and the clubhouse; between Wilson and the front office; between Wilson and the media — loomed large around the Mariners’ disastrous finish this season." otoh KW said that Robin Ventura had all the leadership qualities of an admiral or general and look how all that ended up
  22. If it’s anything like Thai iced coffee, I’m sure I’d love it.
  23. Catchers after age 30 are almost always diminishing returns...with a few notable historical exceptions. Then there are the competitive balance picks as well.
  24. Milwaukee just uses their assets incredibly well. They will get an extra pick for Bauers and use the comp picks well. Then they develop players fantastically. They easily could have gotten Skubal this year, but no need. The Brewers philosophy maybe through the Yelich deal is that the aging baseball player is not the asset you want, The Dodgers and Yankees can outspend to cover for those assets but as you see with the cubs and Yankees you need to develop talent as well. The Wild Bill contract is one that will be interesting to follow with Milwaukee.
  25. Interesting thing about the Milwaukee stadium is that the general area is not a district per se but there is a sprawl and accessibility is such that the congestion is purely stadium traffic so you can entertain one's self nearby and get to the stadium easily. Tailgating is also huge there. Atlanta/Georgia could have worse traffic than LA, it is a nightmare so they need the district Milwaukee does not. LA has the late arriving crowd. The cubs are similar in that regard. Rate should have used mixed income housing and entertainment on parts of their land but that ship has sailed.
