  2. I have no idea why this is even a discussion, like I get people have to find something to still nitpick when the team is good, but come on. Both Quero and Romo suck really, really bad. Quero is only better because he's still really young and maybe has potential, so the Sox want Quero to play every day and work on stuff in a lower pressure environment to see if he can still be anything. Romo is gone once Teel comes back, and is likely barely going to play because Bart isn't good either but he's light years better than the 4th worst catching tandem in the history of baseball.
  3. 4-3 to start this massive 13 game stretch against the AL's best. 6 to go. Win this series in Fenway and sweep Cleveland. Yeah, I'm greedy, but it's time for this team to start flexing some muscle and start rolling into the playoffs. I want BLOOD!
  4. Agreed. But if Ray Ray is going to call people out on cherry picking time periods, then he shouldn’t be doing the same.
  5. It is a valid answer to subtracting and excusing all of the bad periods to make him look as good as possible.
  6. Cle doesn't scare me at all. -16 RD, middling offense at best. They will probably win around 84 games. We just need to win 86.
  7. To be fair, it's not that hard to make him look bad. I actually chose the date because he matched Quero over that same time frame so it seemed more relatable. Lazy stats work from me in this one where I told the story before I validated the data.
  8. I want to see him become Prime Jon Dowd
  9. I wasn’t asking you because I was trying to defend Doyle. I was asking because it seemed obvious you chose September 1 because it made Doyle look as bad as possible, which I think you are willing to admit with your “bully” comment.
  10. When you're an organization that isn't a big spender, the only way to sustain success is to win shares of value in the majority of your moves. Every time you release a Derek Hill and then trade for a Brenton Doyle with 2 prospects a month later, you've lost value and set yourself back. These moves add up fast too. And you're correct, although had I known we were going to throw Ant in left I wouldn't have said the worst since Ant is like a life raft for the group, lifting them all up. I still don't believe in Peters at all, but sometimes things go your way and that's awesome!
  11. I'm a bully, but if you start at August 1st he moves all the way up to 177 of 184 outfielders with 50+ PA's. Moving up!!
  12. If you had 1.6 bWAR for Derek Hill on your bingo card go ahead and collect. Again, having good players on the fringe of the roster is good, not bad. You and I agreed we probably had the worst outfield on paper in MLB back in spring, how did that work out for everybody? Just let'em cook for now.
  13. Gigantor, anyone remember ? Was early Japanese anime on WGN show Rocket To Adventure hosted by Ray Rayner wearing an astronaut suit. If I had remembered this earlier I would've called Murakami Gigantor !
  14. Next 2 series will be really tough. After Boston, Cleveland is lining up Griffin, Williams, and Messick as their starters V schultz, Kay, and Castillo. On paper, Cleveland has a big advantage with the pitching matchup's.
  15. What made you choose September 1 as the beginning of the time period showing him as the worst outfielder?
  16. Derek Hill with the Phillies: 36gms, 1.6 bWAR, 837 OPS, 5 homers. Another guy we gave away for free, only to turn around and pay for Doyle to replace him. Unbelievable.
  17. He has a blue checkmark. How dare you question him???
  18. I wonder what this brings the 2027 opening day payroll up to now.
  19. To sneak him off the 40-man. Fangraphs says he has 2 so not sure this guy is right.
  20. 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀For Doyle and the White Sox
  21. Let me get this straight. The Sox acquire Bart for offense then keep Romo on the roster. Got it, oh wait, huh? Just because they didn't want to DFA Romo? Seriously? Who would pick him up off waivers? Cleveland or Minni for intel? I guess Romo will eventually be DFA'd when Teel is ready anyway then we'll see who claims him. Hopefully Bart has a much better feel for the strike zone than any of our catchers for ABS.
  22. Roch also making his debut in minors today

    Happy roch cholowsky debut day
  24. Quero seems to need work on all parts of his game, whereas it could be assumed that Doyle's defense will play. I don't know how catching defense affects fWAR, but I've always found that fWAR and bWAR were pretty useless when including catching defense. Does Baseball Prospectus still have the best catcher ranking system?
  25. Romo has to be on about life #5 of his 9 lives in the big leagues.
