To be fair, I'd wait for Getz to utter Hahn's nonsense before attributing it to him. Getz seems to have his own, personal form of gibberish that doesn't exhibit a fondness for just being in the room.

I think this is a direct attempt by Boras to get Cubs to boost their offer

I feel like there is a significant distinction between having a seat at the table and what that article said. If the Sox were just listed in a big group of teams, then yeah it would feel like that. But that article straight up said the Sox are the frontrunners. How true that is I don’t know, but the wording feels different.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
Autumn Dreamin replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe they do actually bring Yo back -
Yea I kinda just feel like this is the "we had a seat at the table" headline. Saving face is big in Japan.

Ill never understand this, if you keep him you are paying him anyways. "Well give you X and X but you need to pay $10 million of his salary" "Wow, hard pass, well just keep him and pay all $20 million, thanks."
-
Getz has a shot to get that D+ let's goooo

Pereira, Mead, Lee, and Hill are all out of options. If Sosa and Robert stick around, one of those 4 is going to get cut. I'd imagine Pereira is the safest bet to stick around considering they gave up MLB assists to get him. Really makes carrying 3 catchers pointless, but like everyone knows, Tell and Q really need to be playing as much as possible. Makes a lot of sense they'd be open to moving one because it really does limit the roster construction. I would think Mead is the odd man out with the current roster as it stands.

I'd love this to happen as much as anyone, but when I first saw this I just immediately figured it was Boras doing his thing to get final bids.

Sox the "front-runners" for Imai
Chicago White Sox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
To be fair, if you or me said any material free agent signing wasn’t happening we’d be just as accurate as NBB has been. This one here is a good test because signing a high end Japanese pitcher to a multi year contract is probably the most anti Jerry thing possible. The only reason such a move is even theoretically possible is the Ishbia effect. The good news is we should have an answer on Imai soon enough. And FWIW, I’ve always been skeptical of NBB. His source would have to be Jerry based on the type of stuff he posts and I can’t believe that level of blatant leaking would be tolerated by Jerry or even the front office. Just don’t see what they have to gain by letting him share this stuff with the general public. -

It’s more he says what’s not happening and I can’t recall him ever being wrong

Sox the "front-runners" for Imai
Chicago White Sox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What has he predicted again? Not trying to dismiss him, but I can’t recall a single major prediction from him. -
He doesn't usually broadcast when things will happen. He can check to verify something with a very, very good source though so he's generally right about finding out stuff that isn't true.

Bob Sacamano replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Oh s%*#. I should buy one now so I too will be ready. -
Nothing from him, but he didn’t dismiss it. This one he is saying it’s not true.

I have the scotch ready for that day. -
Which is to say hes better than Bartolo's colonoscopy, but yeah. He is good though.

NBB has the best track record of any insider that gets posted here.
-
I’m skeptical that the Sox will get him even after the report from today, but it’s not because of “Northbrook Bob”

Battle it out with Cannon and Burke giving up 5-7 runs

The fact that Getz feels it's necessary to say that he and Brooks Boyer had to convince Jerry to sign Murakami is embarrassing, yes. It's a 2 year $34 million deal. That type of thing doesn't even cross the owner's desk in most places. Sox are in a good place. I'm excited for the future. I'll never forgive Reinsdorf for how he runs his teams though. He deserves no credit because he's a lazy old man who refuses to understand why he's been bad at this for so long. It's 3 playoff series wins in 40+ years of ownership. The day that he's no longer calling the shots will be one of the greatest in the history of the franchise.
