  2. It's literally mentioned in the Crain's article. Right now, the 80-acre Rate Field site sits unused 280 days a year. So, are you suggesting that Amtrak should move out so that the 14th St site be filled entirely with affordable housing while the Sox remain at Rate Field and those parking lots sit empty all but 81 days a year? Or should Amtrak stay put and the Sox should build a stadium district (which is not affordable housing) at Rate Field? I guess I'm not following what your desired outcome is for getting more housing built - which Chicago definitely needs. “If the White Sox decided to leave — that’s a big if, not for sure — how many would love to have roughly 80 acres available for a public conversation about what to make it? Whether it’s residential homes, whether it’s a new sports facility, whether it’s a potential pro sports franchise or a football team, soccer team, or something else. I think the important part of the conversation is what’s next?” Asked if he has been approached by others about redeveloping Rate Field and its surroundings, Ishbia said “a lot of residential developers” have reached out.
  3. Selling low = netting a top of the rotation arm? Edit: I don't think you get that great of an arm dealing both right now personally. If you could get a TOR with 3+ years of control, do it.
  4. Hiring people who have previously worked for other MLB teams is a losing, nepotistic strategy. Everyone knows that teams like the Guardians and Rays are successful because they look outside of baseball and hire Starbucks baristas and kids with a lemonade stand. What is Getz thinking??
  5. Selling low on both Schultz and Carlson? That's not how you leverage 2 of your remaining top five assets after Miguel Vargas. Why not just spend $$$$?
  6. I don't know. I'm not married to the team. I root for them. I got tired of being mad all year, so I stopped paying attention to the Bears. I don't hang around on Bears' chat boards telling everyone how disappointed I am in the McCaskeys or whatnot.
  7. Why do you think mlb was granted an anti trust exemption? Because it's a critical aspect of the city's identity, making it "major league" or not. Should the Cubs just take over the entire city? And why wasn't the 78 or current site developed for housing if that was more important than a mere baseball team? Unless you want an authoritarian interventionist government...you're not going to be able to force entrepreneurs to build what you consider to be the greatest good for the greatest number of people. That's just not how capitalism works.
  8. What kind of contract do you think it would take to get Shota to the South Side? Not the sexiest of signings and he clearly shouldn’t be viewed as an ace that will take us over top, but would be a nice stabilizing presence in the middle of the rotation. (Yes, the HR’s are scary) Trade for TOR arm (Schultz + Carlson headline) Burke Shota Castillo Thorpe/Martin/Sandlin
  9. How many eminently affordable 25 or 26 year old above average fielding SS's in mlb history with 30+ homers and Colson's rbi numbers have been sent to the minors or at least not traded to get something else of value in return? I thought so...crickets. And how can you be sure his back wasn't compromised...just like Ohtani's knee biceps shoulder the last two months? Colson Montgomery despite his struggles was still 16th out of 33 SS’s. Considering his low salary cost, that's still a huge win for a low payroll team. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?stats=bat&lg=all&type=8&season=2026&month=0&season1=2026&ind=0&pos=ss&qual=350&pagenum=2&pageitems=30 2.8 fWAR would cost $21-25 million in the FA market. Money the Sox aren't able to spend since they need to focus on pitching. Move Meidroth to SS and Antonacci, you downgrade two important infield positions to potentially improve one of the least important corner spots.
  10. There're these 2 really cool things called; Free Agency & The Trade Market, you should check them out. OMG! If Colston can't learn to hit, particularly to the opposite field, he will NOT be in the majors; traded or not. His RISP & late game performances were also among the worst in baseball along with his strikeouts. It's amazing how you don't understand that bad hitters don't stay in the majors. I'm done here.
  11. Well, he should get on it. Chicago is building far less housing than other major cities, which is why prices are exploding. Ishbia should be building something more useful on the land.
  12. We need affordable housing, where is the plan to build that?
  13. Today

  14. Perhaps another team will SHOW SCHRIFF THE MUNE and you’ll be able to continue listening to him. But I wouldn’t put my own MUNE on it happening.
  15. Story at CBS Sportsline caught my eye today. The Orioles owner in an interview with a Baltimore media outlet made a statement that I'm guessing will raise a few eyebrows. He said his baseball owner friends are making more money than he did when he was in private equity.
  16. I'm sure we will bring in someone who sounds like 30 other MLB PBP guys. Great!!
  17. Great article from Josh Nelson. I found these items from his write up noteworthy: "Ishbia has been attending Detroit Tigers Opening Day with his father for over 40 years. Together, they have been to every MLB stadium, keeping a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that ranks each venue on several factors, including sightlines and concessions" "Shore Capital also recently bought The Maxwell shopping center along Canal Street for $15 million. ...... During his Q&A, Ishbia hinted he’s close to buying more South Loop buildings to expand his foothold. " "If major investments like The Railyards don’t pan out, that could dissuade other investors and weaken confidence in the city’s ability to develop urban projects. "
  18. Mine has changed over the past 15 years. What's the old saying about fill me once?
  19. depends on his health he takes one of the most violent swings see Rendon Crede David Wright
  20. That is a GREAT clip. I am even more fired up for this. The amount of minute detail and research he has put into this, WAAAAY beyond just, oh here is where we can put a ballpark, is amazing. For a guy who knows nothing about Chicago, he sure described that area better than I have ever heard another Chicago owner talk about a neighborhood approach versus a ballpark one.
  21. 9,654 wins and 9,714 losses White Sox 3 WS titles 10,025 - 9,520 .513 Indians Guardians 2 WS titles 10,990 wins and 8,369 losses NYY .568 27 WS 4,290 wins and 4,703 losses KC Royals 2 WS titles
  22. Here's a Youtube clip from Sox on 35th with a couple of minutes of Ishbia saying this on camera:
  23. I've got bad news about Ishbia, then.
