  2. Forgot to add it in my roundup of the stats this morning, but for the first time FGs basically think's it's a coin flip between us and Tribe to win division, 30% odds for us, 32% for them. Overall playoff odds are 45% for us, 48% for them, closest it has been all season although Sox did have slightly better odds (46%) back on June 29th. We've basically been around 40-48% the last 6 weeks. Be nice to go on a run and get that up over 60%.
  3. Weather forecasts are all over the place.
  4. Problem with that is Noah has no platoon advantage against LHP. Hate to agree with Ron but I think Adams or Sandlin gives us a better chance to win right now. Adams' velocity reports are good right? IMO it would be hard to be worse than Noah, although you never know.
  5. Mason Adams has a 1.200 WHIP and 9 SO/9 on AAA. Wouldn't be shocked if we see him up.
  6. I see now this is a 4 game series. Man, we need a split. The Yankees seem built to hammer LHP. I am concerned. Maybe Kay will somehow put one of his once a month 6 inning 2 run starts together despite traffic most innings. One thing about Kay is he can get whiffs when needed. Helps limit the damage with RISP.
  7. Looks like everything clears right around first pitch. Maybe a delay but should be able to get the game in. Also wind ripping out to left at 15MPH
  8. At least you’re regular still. Count your blessings.
  9. It doesn't mean he has to pitch only against the Yankees
  10. Are they going to get this game in? Tornado warnings out the wahoo right now.
  11. I wish they brought up Sandlin to pitch instead of Schultz. Oh well. I think they are legitimately high on Sandlin and want him to work more in the minors. That's my baseless take that I'm hoping to will into existence.
  12. They don't let Fedde go through the lineup more than twice. So he and Schultz can do a tandem. Also have Sandlin in AAA, who has had some nice starts and is doing fine in AAA (although, like seemingly everyone else, walks too many). And they'll make a trade of some sort. 6 man staff (or 5 +fedde/schultz) might make some sense to keep everyone fresh.
  13. I don't disagree with you on the short-term, he is clearly not in a good place and it can be very difficult to get that right at the big league level. On the long-term, I can't get out the past that even this year, he showed elite stuff (and has a track record of that at the minor league level). Right now this feels very much an issue with the pitching development side and they better figure this out. But I do think the elite tools are absolutely there.
  14. Bingo. Hopefully Getz trades and keeps the right assets.
  15. Hot take - Sandlin has a higher ceiling than Schultz at this point.
  16. think you guys are saying the same thing. he just needs to showcase he's healthy. someone will take a flier on him as a trade piece if so. Sox should be willing to throw in his remaining pro rated salary.
  17. He’s got enough of a track record. 1 or 2 good games isn’t going to make any difference. Teams can go see that he’s healthy in Charlotte.
  18. Or until one of them gets hurt again.
  19. Today

  20. Looks like Hays will be showcasing in AAA for the next week.
  21. I'm not sure he's going to be a stud but they clearly need to work on his delivery. If it's giving him chronic knee pain at 29th percentile extension, at his size, something needs to change. I don't think he's going to be a stud; I don't see the TOR talent, but certainly 3rd or 4th starter. One big problem for him is that (granted small sample size) lefties having a .358 wOBA against him. He gets no platoon advantage, as a LHP that's not great, Bob. I'd rather he go down and work on things in AAA. I think Sandlin gives us more of a chance to win now. Or, if they think someone else can of the candidates, I'd rather them come up.
  22. Would be very supportive of this move.
  23. It feels like they made changes recently in an effort to improve command - it has come at a cost of "stuff" - but I also wonder if they view it as they can re-unlock that easier, so from a development perspective repeatability / command was priority. As a result, Noah's in the tough spot of actively working on mechanical and development changes at the big league level (as a young pitcher). I think the key is Sox have to manage his "psyche" well and I feel that is a very underrated area where Venable has excelled. I keep reminding myself - Schultz is going to be a stud in the long-run - but in the short run there is more work to do and some of that is going to require a step back. That said, I'd love to see a game where he's just off the charts electric (we saw some of that when he first came up - where the stuff stood out - despite the challenges with command.
  24. Thinking about all the pitches Luke fouled off to get those walks. Cost the club a fortune.
