  1. Past hour
  2. Busy weekend for the Sox. This trade surprised me, mainly because of the info that it had fallen through. I actually like the trade. Hicks had a rough 2025, but he's got good stuff. Maybe the Sox can get him back on track. It sounds like he'll be out of the bullpen, but you never know. Getting some money from Boston was nice, especially considering they also got Sandlin, who might be the actual centerpiece of the trade.
  3. He’s going to be used in a multi inning role this year with the idea of him possibly transitioning to the rotation in 2025. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen, but that’s what the front office is suggesting is their plan.
  4. I'm ambiviolent to Schriffen, but I was sick and tired of Benetti's foolishness. Bob Elson was more my speed.🙂
  5. Today
  6. Could Hays and Benintendi be platooned in LF? Something has to give with Benintendi and Sosa, I wouldn't mind seeing both moved.
  7. I would like to see Grant Taylor get a shot at starting with all the new bullpen additions coming on board.
  8. I was at all the 2005-home playoff & WS games and loved every minute of it. I have heard Chris Berman's call, and it was unprofessional. He's the rube and probably viewed as one by people in the business.
  9. I look forward to not watching them. Nothing but smoke here.
  10. If the WSox exceed their budget - the amount they can spend before risking loan defaults, late payments, and other financial issues, where would the money come from to cover excess spending ? The point about the low budget is an old grind that fans of the WSox and other teams often engage in to voice frustration when mega player contracts are not taken on by corporate ownership/shareholders. I understand that fans have an expectation that shareholders spend millions of their own money to gamble on multi-year mega-million dollar player contracts. Unfortunately, that is not the way it works in MLB or in most other businesses. Simply stated - the Sox have to stay within spending limits in order to survive. Moving forward, the WSox have to make more money in order to spend more money. Hopefully, a winning team this season and beyond will increase revenues and remove the financial constraints that Getz is under.
  11. Embarrassing is right. The Sox are currently 27th in MLB payroll even after all of these moves that had to happen after the Robert money was freed up.
  12. Fegan said the PTBNL going to the Red Sox is an org guy the Sox were likely to release, so no concern there.
  13. For the record I’ve been fine with all their moves. It just shouldn’t have taken a Luis Robert salary dump deal to make them when the collection of guys is pretty “meh” overall. Like you might as well have eaten $15M and taken best offer.
  14. I do not. I don't really see the point of Austin Hays, but they have him. I don't like the DFA of Drew Romo. This trade adds upside in exchange for taking on money. I find Sandlin and Hicks to be an unexciting return for taking on that money. I just don't feel the need to trash a move. And they're already done. My complaining isn't going to undo them. I'll root for the guys they have until they're gone.
  15. Yeah I know and I’ll acknowledge it’s not just whoever is the current GM. Just dumb you have to shed one contract when your payroll is already low to add a collection of guys (Domínguez, Hays, Hicks) who lean more towards the “meh” side of the scale lol
  16. Correct. And this isn’t a Getz thing at all, he clearly has a very specific budget to work with and is getting fairly creative to work within those limits. And everyone has a budget. Needed in all business. It’s just embarrassing low for an MLB Team in Chicago. If the Sox decided to add a 25 million dollar a year player to the team tomorrow, they still wouldn’t crack the Top 20 in baseball this year for payroll costs.
  17. No way he sticks on their active roster, they will try to sneak him through too.
  18. I like the theory that the extra PTNBL owed to the White Sox is insurance for Paez' survival on the 26-man. They could return his Rule 5 rights, but then get him back as a standard minor leaguer.
  19. We (us fans) shouldn’t be but they absolutely should be. A team in the third largest market with a small payroll absolutely should be. Edit: again, you, myself and other fans shouldn’t be but the organization, yeah Edit 2: also not shocked since you agree with 100% of every move they make
  20. No idea. Weird team to claim him considering their roster. He could very well be DFA again.

  22. Not really sure where he plays for them?
  23. Exactly my point. Just hoping those who had heard about the trade in advance might be able to share generalities on this portion of the deal. Not exact names , just an acknowledgment that there is injury protection or based on performance etc. I have followed baseball pretty closely for 50ish years and can’t recall another 2 for 1 PTBNL. Aware of times a pool changed but the 2for1 seems unique. Probably really overreading that something major could be in the fine print but I remember when Dallas traded walker to the Vikings lol
