  2. I may have already written this in this thread, but he didn't even call pitchers in that one year of primary catching in college. So he's having to learn that on the fly. When he was talking about pitch calling/sequencing in an interview I heard, he really gave the impression that he knew next to nothing about it. Almost gives an insight into his hitting that he's up there with an empty head just hacking at whatever looks right (might be more gift than curse, TBH)
  3. The most significant development relating to the Sox playoff chances as of late is the Red Sox surge. Made it far less likely that the AL Central runner-up can back into the playoffs with ~.500 record. Right when the models would grudgingly accept the Sox are not going to lose 95 games, the Red Sox asserted themselves as another likely playoff team which means Our Sox have to actually have a good season to get in.
  4. Ok I’m watching the replay and Colson just hit it out, and it hit the hanging catwalk like Thomas did back in the day. I’m pretty sure Thome hit a home run off his own face on the Jumbotron in right field. Konerko got his inside the park homer here. I think Dye might have hit the catwalk too. The Sox have a lot of quirky home runs in this park lol
  5. Damn it Ron I am not a fan of taking Hicks away from the role he has been great in and switching it up on him but hopefully it works.
  6. Kinda like my s%*# for your s%*# type of deal
  7. I think the idea is to limit Junior to 1 look at Schultz.
  8. we are starting hicks? is noah the bulk guy?
  9. Today

  10. That's if this is true. Also they're not always right. All that said. If it happens I won't lose any sleep over the trade. All the best prospects would still be intact.
  11. B. Smith only concentrated on catching in his last year of college, where he caught 44 games (if memory serves). I think he's got a couple years of starting in the minors before he's regarded as an accomplished catcher.
  12. Would not be surprised if Tommy John is in Skenes near future.
  13. I'm fine with filling the bullpen with in house pitching. McDougall ,Hagan Smith etc .
  14. Very strange. Comparable salaries but Larnach has another year of control while Abreu is an impending free agent. Crane fucked up.
  15. Look, if the Sox are already looking to put him into a deal like this, it probably means they see something limiting his ceiling at the major league level. If they saw him as a top end catcher, this deal doesn't get traction. Could they be wrong, sure.
  16. There's plenty of player's in this years draft to replace his value. I'm not concerned one bit about trading him. I'm probably overrating Boston Smith. Something about him I don't want sell low.
  17. We have the opportunity to potentially put this to bed in the next few weeks!
