  1. Past hour
  2. I just checked the urethra. Maybe I should check the colon next?
  3. You can't count on Smith. Had a brutal outing recently, if I remember it was yesterday. Just crazy wild and even hit two batters.
  4. I don’t think this guy has ever gotten anything right in the years he has cosplayed as an insider. It’s quite impressive that he hasn’t gotten a single thing right just out of sheer luck.
  5. There's not a lot of people on the planet with the athletic ability to throw a baseball 95+ with control. If there was they wouldn't be getting the money they make. And agree completely that pitchers get injured a lot more this year for various reasons that experts have been discussing for several seasons which is why the adage "you can never have enough pitching" rings true. So when you come across pitching, good pitching you need to hang on to it regardless of cost especially if they are younger. And I've preached for years today you need six, maybe seven competent starters because someone is going to get hurt or slump. In 1983 the Sox had seven starting pitchers on the roster who won at least 10 games in a big league season. Man to have that depth today.
  6. I don’t see any good pitchers in there…
  7. Sox now have the #2 offense in the American League. Go figure.
  8. There really are no dominant teams in the AL. You have to get 1 more pitcher but can't break the bank. I would love detmers but can't overpay.
  9. Tough matchup tomorrow. Maybe I can finally watch. Was busy Saturday and don't have any of those streaming services
  10. DeGrom can get roughed up and given his season history he's just about due. But with 13 days off he's probably going to be pretty sharp.
  11. Definitely more faith in Burke right now than anyone else! He's been dealing. Love to see it.
  12. Jim Callis on the trade, starts at 9:25, if it's not cued up right:
  13. Nah, he STINKS! @Look at Ray Ray Run (I’m not usually one to call out like this, but I know you can take it, and it’s all in good fun)
  14. Today
  15. Truly a case of "ya just can't win'em all"
  16. Hagan Smith 1 inning, 1h, 1er, 3bb, 2ks
  17. Hypothetically, wonder what the cost of Shea Langeliers would be. Also Heliot Ramos?? If decent pitching is just gonna be crazy expensive I’d prefer they just pay up on bats then
  18. I just mean in terms of overall production. I know Landon has a better hit tool, but not McGonigle levels at this point. And as I have said before, I like Thome as a prospect. I just don’t like the idea of trading an infielder who has already developed into a legit major league hitter for one who doesn’t have a massively higher ceiling than him. Maybe I just higher on Jacob than most here.
  19. He got bent over a tree stump, where he grabbed an overflowing pot of gold that will enrich the White Sox for the next ten years. We should all get bent over like that. LOL.
  20. I may have agreed with your take under the prior regime but this one is much better at making these kinds of decisions. There is a much better and more thoughtful brain trust at the helm and they decided that this was a trade worth making. At the moment, I don't disagree with it at all. I think calling it an extremely stupid trade is very exaggerated. The truth is that we won't really know for a few years. Measuring it after just a couple of weeks is meaningless due to insufficient data. I have more trust now in these kinds of decisions than I did over the past 20 years.
  21. Okay. I mean, they are radically different players. Gonzalez in this current iteration is power over hit and a 40 runner. Thome’s ceiling is like McGonigle or Weatherholt or something. That’s not a likely outcome, but if we’re talking ceiling, you just don’t know. We’ll know a lot more hopefully by this time next year. Also, he signed underslot, so that money went into signing Prosek. It’s complex.
  22. After watching Carlson all weekend, I would have a hard time trading him. Dude looks like he’s just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential offensively. I would rather bundle a quantity over quality package that excludes teenagers.
  23. I just think the ceiling of Landon Thome is Jacob Gonzalez and the floor is minor leaguer who never makes the show. The roster crunch is a real thing, but I still think we should have used Jacob to add a controllable SP to solve that issue.
  24. I believe Gonzalez will definitely hit, so it’s a great trade for the Pirates. They get immediate help in a pennant race. Jury’s gonna be out for a few years for the Sox. With their upcoming 40 man crunch, I get why they did it. May sting a little from time to time though.
  25. A 1-2-3 of Burke-Detmers-Martin can make us competitive for the playoffs. We are seeing in real time Burke take that next step and Martin is a legit #3 despite some regression & fatigue. Hopefully Schultz can build some momentum and make a case to be the clear #4 SP down the stretch. Kay is probably fine for the #5 spot and if not you have Sandlin, S. Smith, Adams, & Fedde in reserve. I really think Detmers is the dude to get. You can NOT give up Bonemer for him, but I think we enough other pieces to make a compelling offer. I really hope Getz is aggressive here as a quality SP is our single biggest need hands down.
  26. Sadly, I could not agree more.
