  2. Absolutely fair to say tomorrow is not promised and be able to keep building on tomorrow
  3. Nothing is promised. There may not be an AL or NL next year. In 1983, a 22 year old Cal Ripken was in his second full season, put up an 8.2 WAR and the Orioles won the World Series. He made 18 straight All-Star appearances with Baltimore after 1983, and he never made it to another World Series. In 2016, the Cubs won the World Series with a core of: Kris Bryant - 24 Anthony Rizzo - 26 Addison Russell - 22 Javier Baez - 23 They also had Kyle Schwarber, Willson Contreras and Ian Happ waiting in the wings. As we know, they never got back. Rentals will come cheaper than players with control. They should be able to acquire help without giving up high-end capital. I've said the last few months, I don't want them going after rentals, they're a year "early" and winning the division/playoff success is just house money. I've changed my perspective on that after watching more of the season play out. The AL is BAD. The only team that actually scares me is a healthy Yankees team, and I don't know if we'll even see a healthy Yankees team in 2026. There is a VERY real world where the Sox earn a first round bye in the playoffs. If that happens, the path to the World Series isn't crazy at all. I'm not advocating for Getz to push all his chips in the middle of the table, pillage the farm system in order to get new bodies on the team for 3 months. But standing pat, being overly conservative isn't the play either. Sometimes the best pitch to hit is the first one. You can wait, but that pitch may never come.

Boston Smith not on the Top 30 list on website, but Landon Hodge is.

  16. Let’s get this thread back on track. The Sox can’t roster all three of Grichuk, Hays, & Pereira. Everson is the only one controllable beyond this year and who can play CF…ideally you keep him so you don’t have to find someone to fill this role next year. That means you got to move one of Hays or Grichuk and it would be hard to move the latter after what he’s done. Both Austin & Pereira are at AAA in rehab stints. I think there is a real possibility that we call up Hays before the Astros series and try to showcase him a bit. We aren’t going to get a ton, but RH bats are in demand right now and he was a $6M signing this past offseason with a strong track against LHP. Maybe he nets you something that can help offset the cost of a rental catcher. Meanwhile, Everson can extend his rehab assignment through the trade deadline. I think they keep him down and use this as an opportunity to get him regular playing time while they work through the major league roster crunch. He comes up post deadline and returns to his previous role.

  18. Ok… now it’s your turn for the same question even though I hadn’t asked you before.
  19. We have zero payroll commitments and a team of cost controllable player. Stop with this insanity. And we have five more years of control of Peters…there is zero reason to worry about extending him.

  22. White Sox not paired with any of the catching names yet, but quite a few of the pitchers. Detmers, Soriano, Foster Griffin, Robbie Ray, Clay Holmes No Casey Mize, and Bleday would have been a good pickup, although they’re obviously happier with Grichuk than Hays SIMLB Trade Candidate Rankings, Deadline Predictions 2.0: T...With MLB’s trade deadline fast approaching, we’re ranking the top 25 players who could be moved in terms of value—and predicting if they’ll be traded.
