I just do not pay attention to any Bulls or Blackhawks games. They've driven me to complete apathy.

Giddey is what he is, all O zero D. His lack of defense makes him a less than average player. Absolutely insane if you think this is probably where we would have stood with AKME, pretty similar constructed lineup, and that’s what they wanted

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
Knowing full well that Jerry doesn't spend unless Sox fans spend, and that the Sox are effectively a small market team under his leadership, revenue like this is vital to taking a team from Point B to POint C.

While I agree with your assessment...1993 was a fun year! And the Frank Thomas era (minus the first 2 months) was at NCP/USCF/GRP/RF (was it called a field or park???)...so it will show up a lot in White Sox history because of Frank highlights as well as the couple of highlights you point out!

White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director
West Eddy what is your take on hiring a manager with no experience? I am a bit surprised Seattle went this route.

What history and tradition is there? Any nostalgia was lost when they moved across the street and failed to honor any history, tradition, success or facility improvement. Other than 2005 every season after 1917 is a failure. Wasn't this year only the second team to win a playoff series in 109 years?

This assumes the Bulls will be good again. He had success in Portland so unlike Pedro he has a bit of a history. Maybe the talent is just that bad. I do not know though as I haven't watch the Bulls in a while. The Bulls could be the most poorly run franchise in sports, Blackhawks have rejoined the conversation, but they generate a boatload of cash for the Reinsdorf family as people still attend the games or some reason.

Caleb looks great, but Matas and Giddey have gone backwards. I don’t think they will make a coaching change this season, but he the basketball Pedro Grifol. He won’t be there when the Bulls are good again.

I think the Bulls have been sacrificed for the Bears and Sox success. I'll totally take it. But it just sucks that they start to get comically bad when being absolutely terrible doesn't pay off anymore.

This Day In Sox History 11/5...
One factoid today: November 5, 1990 - It was presumed that after dismissing G.M. Larry Himes in September, owner Jerry Reinsdorf would want someone to replace him more familiar to the organization — if not an outright “yes man.” And indeed, named as senior V.P. of MLB operations was Ron Schueler, away from the team for a decade but a White Sox player in 1978-79 and pitching coach after retiring in 1979 for Tony LaRussa. Schueler inherited the powerful foundation left behind by Himes and rode that into quick success, with the 1993 A.L. West title and lead in the division in 1994 when labor pains stopped the season. The remainder of his tenure was mostly painful, with the hiring of Terry Bevington as manager and the infamous “White Flag Trade” in 1997. It ended on a high note though, with the 2000 A.L. Central title. After the season, Schueler moved upstairs as Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations in part because of a serious illness to his wife.

So why was/is there 'private interest' along 55th st and 47th st corridors? Moving forward, 33rd st. One is the University of Chicago, right, but the other two areas are the hood. Well they won't be for long.- Sports Media Discussion
I don’t mind Payton, but he’s definitely a bit dry. I’ll admit that I’ve been switching over to ESPN a lot more recently. He might be too friendly for a sports radio host, like he is too agreeable with other hosts/callers and wants to be nice to everyone.- Best and Worst vacation experiences
I have a few older friends that would absolutely not agree with this.- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
If they're smart they're trying to get real voices from all revenue streams - not just current financial partners.- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
It's definitely going to be biased towards those who mean the most to JR/Brooks Boyer financially....- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
Having put together focus groups in the past, they’re likely selecting a cross-section from various walks of life - longtime season ticket holders, casual fans, young people, old people, DINKs, people with kids, . . . . The goal is to get input from all potential sources of income and revenue, not just the loyal followers, so that you can understand how to maximize revenue and engagement in an informed way.- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
Anyone who has been a season ticket holder since the current park opened will likely be at least pushing 70 by the time a new ballpark opens. I suspect that they're not handing out invites simply based on seniority, otherwise younger fans would be totally underrepresented. The fact that he's even seeking input from a select group of fans is a good sign. But they're not going to be inviting every season ticket holder or everyone who feels that they're the "biggest Sox fan ever". Whoever goes, I hope they provide some good feedback.- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
If that is the case, as with all trolling, how the f*** do you not have anything better to do?- Offseason

Great idea. Agree that Hawaii is pretty magical and I was skeptical before the trip. Some other thoughts: Disappointments St. Louis in general. What a ghost town. It might make Cleveland look cosmopolitan Whale watching boats - Any time I go on one of those 2 hour trips I can pretty much guarantee a headache (and minimal to zero whales seen) Great Trips Vietnam - No matter the flight cost and time, this is one of the cheapest and friendliest places foreign or domestic. We took a 10-11 day roundtrip to DaNang and had a blast. We quickly headed to Hoi An and also spent time on China Beach. Beautiful countryside, history, and excellent coffee and food. The cheaper mid-tier hotels on the Hoia River were wonderful with delicious traditional Vietnamese breakfast. Renting old bicycles for a few bucks a day and riding through the rice paddies and then visiting the silk village was exhilarating. Acadia National Park in Maine- If you like hiking and lobster, you can't beat it. If you are a good hiker, you can pick tougher trails and avoid the crowds. Way better summer temps than places like Yellowstone, too. Greece - Athens is a pretty modern city now and the Parthenon's exterior scaffolding was removed last year so the experience is amazing. Plenty of beautiful islands to fit your tastes (particularly Naxos), but the mainland Peloponnese is still the most authentic experience. Get a good rental car and get lost driving around to places like Nafplion, Olympia, Monemvasia, Epidavros, etc. Outside of Athens and tourist hot spots, it will be way cheaper than you would expect.- Offseason
