  2. Yeah, more short-sighted or "penny wise, dollar foolish" than anything. History has shown he's willing to increase the payroll after more money starts rolling in thanks to increased attendance after a winning season. But, he always stops just short of really putting this franchise over the top. Their big "All In" move (which became their advertising slogan that year) that I can think of was to sign the one-dimensional, 32-year old Adam Dunn to a four-year contract. Even with the infamous Hahn rebuild where "the money will be spent", he wouldn't commit to Machado or Harper and instead the Sox spread all that payroll space they had on B-level free agents like Keuchel and Grandal plus trying to outsmart the market by signing their young, unproven talent to extensions. Not to mention that this has taken place on top of not investing enough in scouting, player development, international scouting, etc. Look at the Padres. Yeah, they have no WS titles or pennants to show for their actions, but they now draw 3M a year and were sold for nearly $4B thanks to fielding exciting teams and developing a top-notch ballpark.
  3. How and where can I see what Colson's Whiff% is against 96+mph fastballs? Is there a way to see what that looks like in the first half vs second half? Playing around with Statcast I am not finding that option.
  4. Well, he’s likely in the rotation next year due to taking up $22.75 million of payroll so hopefully he is productive.
  5. At least he's not arrogant.
  6. I'm not sure any front office could have developed these 3 bums. League just whiffed on their scouting reports on these guys IMO.
  7. You will be ready to dump in very shortly after his debut. Just like always. I can't wait for the inevitable Kaleb and they rushed him posts.
  8. Caught this yesterday, what a blunder bringing him in was. His -0.9 WAR over just 6 starts and 9 appearances with the Sox likely cost them the division, then he pulls s%*# like this. Fire him into the sun and eat the money.
  9. Caleb has a 24.4% SO rate in the minors. Slightly lower than Colson's 24.8%. Caleb also has a .252 ISO. Nearly .100 higher than what Colson put up in the minors. Caleb is doing better in the minors at a younger age than Colson did.
  10. Feels like the kind of guy who would we be in the usually Sox shopping bin. Also, he was already offered the QO prior so he can't be offered one.
  11. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/never-say-no-to-big-woo-could-brandon-woodruff-pitch-in-world-series/ar-AA2ebJrp?ocid=BingNewsSerp Looks like Woodruff is close enough to be under consideration for potential WS duty. Probably much more willing to sign a 1-2 option year "make good" deal. All depends on the medicals.
  12. And yes attendance was up significantly, but don't forget that #1, the Sox had nine figures of debt to pay off, and we have no idea what that structure or time period looked like, and what the downhill effects on operations will be. #2, we have no idea what the new Sox TV deal looks like, but by all predictions, it is a fraction of the old deal.
  13. I think I said $125-135 million... The one thing we still don't know is what decision will be made on MuraKami (keep, trade or extend). It would still be a shocker to see them giving $80-120 million to King Rogers Gray or Peralta with all the big market teams all looking for starting pitching. The Cubs alone are trying to fill at least three spots, if not four, depending on the prognosis for Steele and Horton.
  14. Would Brandon Woodruff make sense on a short “prove it” deal? He hasnt pitched much over the last 3 years due to injuries and i doubt the Brewers make a QO because of it. I am not saying hes THE target, but worth the gamble as a second target. His profile looks solid for our park when hes on, career 41.4 GB%
  15. Yeah I get that people want to be hopeful but I'm going to assume they are going to continue operating the way they have under Jerry. Ishbia doesn't own the team yet and I doubt he's fronting much money until he does. His focus now is on the new stadium.
  16. Today

  17. Because the White Sox did not act like a team with a lot of money to spend at the deadline. They traded an additional prospect and contract to save money instead of taking on an entire deal.
  18. Why not? Agai, you assume they are going to rock a $120M payroll next year.
  19. I was surprised that the Democrat party backed Lee when she ran for office. Her father was part of the Daley organization and wound up going to jail over corruption.
  20. It is really sad how the organization has fallen off the map and is once again is a non-entity in the city.
  21. Another name to look at post Mets trade is David Peterson. Had an ERA of 6 and then a was good SP for Cubs. Having any semblance of a defense helps a lot. Edit: might actually be a lowkey good name to look at
  22. While Peralta will always have the 4.99 ERA stain on his resume from his 22-start Mets tenure, he is already doing a lot of good with the Rays to diminish the impact of his Mets stint on his free agency. Will Peralta land a nine-figure contract like he might've been seeking this offseason? Probably not, at least not without signing a very long-term deal that has a much lower AAV than pitchers normally would get. But a strong postseason for Peralta with the Rays, especially if he helps them win the World Series, could have the Tampa Bay starter landing a much more respectable deal this offseason. si.com 3.25 era with MIL and two solid postseason starts to boot
  23. Getz was Director of Player Development starting in 2017. But he's in a new position now. The longer you follow the team the less optimistic you become. So just ignore all this. Getz probably wasn't to blame back then.
  24. I'd add Freddy Peralta back to the list of guys I would want. File his first half struggles to "General Mets Usual Shittiness"
  25. 33% K rate for the Mariners AA team and in the AFL. Not too upset about losing him but the Castillo acquisition was a disaster. Wonder if a better player could have been acquired for Smith. I guess we'll never know.
