  2. The goal is to supplement this team to make the playoffs. As much as I like this team, it just doesn't look like a championship team just yet. Peters, Braden, Colson, Mune all go on long cold spells. Catching is a hole. Starting pitching works fine for a .500 team waiting on some butch arms from the minors. The bullpen alternates between solid and rickety. So, seriously, a "go for it" trade deadline would have picked up 2-3 stud starters (Castillo, Detmers, Gausman), an arm or two for the bullpen, a catcher, 2 stud OFs, with Braden being the return for somebody. Bonemer and Carlson would probably be the price for somebody. The upgrades aren't 'league ace' level that Skubal represents. You've cleaned out the farm system to get a team that might win a playoff series, then start rebuilding all over again next season. That, to me, doesn't make a shred of common sense. That would be completely irresponsible, and I'd expect that to be the kind of deadline that Getz follows up by leaving the organization to take a better job elsewhere, because he would be mired in 80-win-ville for the next 2-3 seasons.
  3. I have no idea, but that appears to be the case. Maybe Jerry hopes to secure a stadium deal before he sells as that would give a huge boost to the franchise's valuation while Ishbia is laying the groundwork for his own stadium plans in the (likely) event that Reinsdorf doesn't get a stadium deal done? Just a wild guess.
  4. And some of the more ambitious trade rumors had Braden Montgomery in the return. That's a non-starter.
  5. Romo's better defensively and doesn't tip off pitches with his setup?
  6. One of these days I hope to get an explanation of why Romo continues to remain with the team while Quero is like a Yo-Yo with his trips to Charlotte and back.
  7. They became a much more enjoyable watch/follow the 2nd half of last season and obviously fun this season and well ahead of schedule for even playing over .500.

  10. we somehow think the farm system is stocked. It's not since they brought up a lot of guys but no stud pitcher in that bunch. The Sox are not in the same league where you can be like the Dodgers trading guys in the minors who could play elsewhere.
  11. How does it make any sense that Jerry and Ishbia have competing stadium plans? Shouldn't they be working together?
  12. If you ever take a first date to the beach the White Sox are invincible
  13. they "failed" at losing 100 games this year
  14. Yeah unless theres some major trades, his remaining time at 3B seems limited. Too much IF talent that will likely supplant him. Plus, his bat is good enough to play at 1B/DH.
  15. Vargas has -6 OAA per statcast, so his range is pretty terrible according to the metrics. I'm down with moving him off 3B.
  16. Damn, big spender. Pulling out all the stops taking her to a fine dining establishment like that.
