That's not a winning strategy if it goes to a 3rd possession. I knew the reason why they deferred, but that's just too risky. The 9ers didn't defer in their last super bowl, and were criticised for it, but they actually made a good decision since it could have backfired like it did Buffalo tonight.

And the clock finally struck midnight for us. That's brutal to lose him on the kneel down play. It was a great run this year. Sad it had to end this way.

The Future of the White Sox TV Broadcast Team
Sox guy replied to palehose1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, I was, way back in the 80s when I was a kid. Lots of former cub fans here. People do change, ya know, especially from boyhood to adulthood. as a kid, 97.9 The Loop played "yucky old guy music". It eventually became one of my fav stations, I never missed Gettin the Led Out. Change happens, few people are the same person they were decades ago, bud. -
Uh oh...

Actually you always want to defer in OT because each side is guaranteed a possession so it's better if you know what you need to do after watching the first drive.
-
Broncos win....woo hoo! Great game....its pretty much all gravy from here. Really need Pat Bryant, Troy Franklin and Alex Forsyth back next week and hopefully we can activate JK Dobbins and Wattenberg. Bryant looked great before he had another concussion.

We have to censor swear words here, eh So, how stupid were the Bills to defer 1st possession of OT, JFC, they gave Denver an extra possession, which led to their victory. So idiotic. IMO, they should go back to sudden death OT, with 1st possession going to the team who drew less penalty yards. Gives an extra incentive to not foul. But, by god, giving your opponent a full extra OT possession is so braindead, bills deserved to lose on that alone. Thinking you're slick by subverting expectations, usually doesn't work out. I was there when the Lions gave us 1st OT possession in sudden death, which we used for the win. "newthink" will backfire often. If you win OT coin toss, take that 1st possession, never defer, Never give your opponent an extra chance. It's that simple. and now, the 9ers are showing that they're worse than bills, which made the reseeding pointless. Let the top seed choose his opponent, 5 seed is sometimes worse than 6.

Good for the NFL. Can't stand the f*** but its good for the rivalry.

I'd be fine with it if cheap. Traditionally has got on base. Should fit well in the park offensively. He may be toast, but Sox aren't exactly strong in the corners. Don't see the issue if they take a flier.

Until they actually sign him I'm not going to worry about this.

To finish the job that Rick Hahn couldn't do.

at least we're not getting Golden Globes promos during this game, unlike the last cbs game. That was so cringe, they shouldn't have forced Nants to do that, pretty insulting. If they're gonna wear Orange Crush jerseys, then why not go back to the OC helmets. Better combo. Didn't know invesco field is called MHS now, just like the predecessor. Hopefully bears don't wear color rush again tomorrow, or worse, the orange tops. Yuck. Just wear what ya did last time you faced rams in playoffs, the standards. In between rams playoff games, rams left town, won a sb, lost a sb, returned, lost a sb, then won one. So, what's everyone's SB20 memories. Or 41. I only watched a few minutes of the SB20 halftime show while I ate pizza at Showbiz Pizza Place, didn't bother to watch the game since I was too busy with skeeball, wack a mole, and the singing gorillas. Saw 41 at a friend's place, but wasn't bothered by the outcome, that Colts team was likeable.

I heard those donations actually go straight to the White Sox Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting. -

Since the offseason is the chance to dream, If the Sox fix him I will donate 25 dollars to a local Jeep dealership in loving memory of Ursula. -
If Tucker is $60 million and Bo Bichette is 42 per, $20 million for Luis Robert is NOTHING.

No

Didn't he shake the injury bug last season? Maybe if we put a .500 ish team on the field it'll wake up Robert even more. Has to be tough to play when none of your at bats matter.

Good for you on that opinion. I’m done arguing with people about Robert. Hopefully you can come back to this post and point out that I’m wrong -

Yup, Stone Pony ain't in it for the cash. He's a palehose for life. as are we, of course, thru thick and thin. These thin years have been easy as pie, 2026 is looking good, so all systems are go. Jason just did a college game on fox rn, they need to move him and aj up to the a-team for mlb, Davis and Smolts can be secondary. Which pushes out amin, but oh well. Jas and Pierzynski are gold, they deserve the fall classic, IMO. -

I can’t fathom him getting less than Ardolis Garcia. $8M to $10M is basically like 1 to 1.5 WAR money. I think his $20M salary is probably closer to reality. -

Most likely a 1 year prove it deal that is heavy with incentives. $8-10 base salary. I would think the fact that Robert is still on this team should speak volumes to what the rest of the league thinks of him.
