  1. Past hour
  2. The Royals definitely want out of Kauffman. I'm sure the city will accommodate them after the embarrassment of losing the Chiefs.
  3. The Indiana talk is absurd. The Bears aren't leaving Illinois. They probably won't even leave Chicago for AH. From an outsider it's obvious Arlington Hts would be nirvana for the Bears. Sweetheart deal to move there and it's obvious they are would be turned into an amazing place full of hotels, restaurants and the like. Surprising they won't move to Arlington. But Indiana? Please. Ain't gonna happen.
  4. Kansas has its Chiefs; they don't need or want the Royals now. Missouri knows it can't lose both franchises so certainly the state will provide some big bucks via taxes to allow KCR to move downtown.
  5. The White Sox aren't moving to Nashville. You can rest easy in that regard based by statements by Ishbia himself to the Pope.
  6. Today
  7. I don’t really understand what the f*** the Bears want. Like, is the team needing tax breaks because George McCaskey is too fucking poor to pay for a stadium? And Kevin Warren is too ineffective at his job that he needs tax incentives from Indiana to get a new stadium built? The reporting suggests they need infrastructure around Arlington Heights. Pritzker discussed that with them and presumably offered it to them. They have to negotiate with the local tax body for the property taxes. What else does George and his old ass board need to get a stadium in Illinois? If the Bears move to Indiana and the White Sox move to Nashville, I may follow a message board and maybe coverage but something will be different. I’d want a new franchise to move in, like a MLB expansion team or the Chicago Jaguars, to fill a void. It sounds ridiculous, but something would be different for the fan base and it will turn some segment of the fan base off.
  8. Write down the name Cowles......strike a line through it.
  9. I discounted the Sox signing any free agents. That won't happen. I meant trades. Name a year the start of Feb approaches and trades are made. Sox don't sign free agents unless they can find some 1 year 6 mill deals for run of the mill pitchers.
  10. With Teel, Quero, and Lee on the big leauge club,Romo is bound for Charlotte
  11. There’s still so many free agents out there. The hitting market has been so slow since Schwarber signed and that was a while ago at this point.
  12. Yesterday
  13. Many of the big name free agents don’t get signed until January nowadays
  14. This happens every year. Many of the mid and lower tier free agents don’t get signed until way late in the offseason. Teams know that the players will get desperate and accept a cheap deal. Why would January 20th be some sort of hard cutoff? Spring Training games officially start on February 20th.
  15. I would think most teams rosters are set by now. Or will be by Jan. 20. So are we good enough to go .500 yet? Sox won't be making any moves after Jan. 20. They never do. We're nearing the end of another mostly silent offseason. Once Feb hits it's play ball.
  16. Some people actually wanted this bum. Turning 33 next month. PEDs or not, he would have been a garbage signing. Even worse now knowing that he would miss half the season and be without the benefit of the PEDs.
  17. We'll see how it all shakes out. Injuries will also play a big part in how the season goes and the Sox track record the last several years hasn't been great in that department. I just hope they don't lose 100+ games again this season.
  18. I’m not super attached to Lee by any means, but I can live with him on the team if his presence means that Teel and Quero will be in the lineup together consistently.
  19. A little off topic, but is this an actual team/fan thing?
  20. If some of the guys like Meidroth, Vargas, Sosa, Quero and Baldwin don't turn into (at least) average, 2 bWAR players, if Colson and Teel don't grow into 4+ bWAR dudes, if they can't develop a couple of 3+ bWAR starting pitchers, then what are we even doing? All I'm describing is natural development. Sure, Colson may play a full season and put up 2.5 WAR. That would be a step back. But imagining that nobody's going to improve beyond replacement level just seems unrealistic. I think this team is roughly a 75+ win team at this point. If the kids continue to develop, as you noted, if some of these young arms become effective or find some success quickly, a .500 record wouldn't surprise me.
